The silver appears to be steel wire.
Is that the place where you keep the recycling?
You could save all cans and bottles to make a fort.

NOTE: the pic taken by me is for another forum's post-apocalyptic weapon making contest, hence the different sig.
The only things I purchased was the bat for $2 at a garage sale, and the $2 box of nails for the bike nipples, since I didn't have the correct size nails to fit. The wire was surplus from a maille project I did, the end spike was from an old jobs scrap bin (the metal is one of the strongest steels in production, it was a blank for high-tensile bolts).
The only thing I am curious about is if the unwrapped part of the bat would break after hitting something hard from the added weight of the nails and wire.
Any volunteers?

yeah, I made some 18 gauge galvy at 3/16" Inner diameter, so I tested it ... taped it to my punching bag, grabbed a bowie knife and stuck it like a pig. maille came apart way too easy. In the link for the pic you can see where I patched the punching bag.
yeah, the bike nipples might come apart, I have had them around for a while and wanted to use them for something. They are from a bike rim that I scavenged the spokes for maille, it actually works quite well, spokes are stronger than 18 galvy lol.
The wire binding is to keep the bat from splitting, I saw it in a weapons encyclopedia, "trench club" from WW1 I believe it was called
I want to test the bat, but those yelling goofs in the lot next door have been strangely quiet. I have some 4 inch nails that are waiting to replace the old ones, and I think the 4 inchers would actually work better.
anyone else have any post-apocalyptic weapons they have personally made? biohazard poop from taco bell does not count, unless you throw it monkey-style or something...

I am making a crossbow, I am too cheap to buy one, plus it will be more fun to build it. I have been checking out some plans...
