It Would be Great if...

No, this isn't some brainstorming or wishlist topic. Rather, it's about something I saw in FO earlier this evening that cracked me up, considering the amount of controversy that vehicles generated in FoT. Here's an excerpt of a screenshot taken from the Brotherhood bunker:

I think I know some people that will put this up as their wall paper if they see it. ;)

Sexist pig! You assume that the male in combat armor is my character! I prefer to get in touch w/my feminine side when playing in the FO universe...

All kidding aside, my character is barely visible at the top right hand of the screen. I was just chatting w/members of the class.

Oh I see you, the woman in the combat armour talking to the one in the purple robes right?

Yes, that would be...um..."me". Or Bronwyn, as the case may be. ;)

Hm, never tried playing as a female character before. Guess I'll have to go try now.

Wait-- so then who's the guy in leather armor to the left?

I haven't played FO1 but i'm guessing it Tycho. Am i right OTB?

Started on FO2, thought i was damned fun.

Yes Archvile, that is Tycho.

(BTW, run - don't walk! - out and get FO today! :D )

TR: I played both of the RPGs through as a male the first time, but after that the majority of my characters have been female. I played FoT through as a female the first time, since I'd read that your character's sex didn't affect anything.

Ah, I don't see any way in which FOT would be geared towards gender.

Hm, playing FO and FO2 as a female now... not too much different... yet, hm, HEY! I can sleep with people! FREE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Erm...I only use females for squeezing through tight spaces. They Should have put hot chicks in there, instead of butch gurls...

Well, for one, it could have changed the dialogue a bit. I didn't particularly care for chatting w/Caldris and having him refer to Friday as "son". There wasn't that much room for differences based on sex as the core campaign was constructed. Unfortunately a lot of the trigger system was left unimplemented, including the Race and Sex qualifiers. Had those things been included you could set up everything you see happening in FO/FO2 based on Sex, for instance talking your way past guards because you're character is a femme fatale.

I've played both as utterly chaste, even prudish females that will hose people down w/a SMG for merely hinting at the possibility of having sex and...well...the opposite extreme. It's definitely different.

Yes, and dont they need to go to the toilet in FOT? Or did the Nuclear explosion kill their liver, and they have to get it puped out through their shoes? Also, they dont sleep. The girl could be like a 'Healer' and when you go to sleep, all your chrs get healed faster than if you just go to sleep normally.

Ah, so many possibilities.

Hm, interesing points, but I suppose it would get very monotonous after a while.

You got a bigger picture size for that screenshot? I couldn't see much.

Yes, it would've been nice had Fallout 1 and 2 had different stuff per gender. The overall mission would be the same, but say, females characters would automatically get +1 Charisma.

BTW, is Paladin Solo in FOT suppose to be a man or woman? I don't know if it's the mask, but she sounds manly. According to the 'Success' voice and message (after you heal her squad and bring the APC close in St. Louis), Solo is referred to as "her".

Just wondering (that fancy face mask/helmet?)

Paladin Solo is a woman. The voice modulators in the face mask of the power armour make all Paladins sound the same, much the way the Enclave armour did in FO2.
