The patch list appears to be missing the big fix for me which would have said "Fixed issue where the game crashes before loading to the menu screen."
I'll load it up tonight and see what happens.

Just in case people missed it...
For people using dual core processors:
After booting the game (if you get that far), you can tab out, open the process list and find Fallout3.exe in there...
Right click it, click the bottom option (which should be something like "Connections" in English), and disable one of the cores. Reenter the game, and it should be fairly stable.
(This is also a "fix" for System Shock 2... guess they gotta copy some features, eh?)

Testicular Pugilist
The game's been more stable since the patch, at least for me, without doing any of that nonsense. I've noticed the initial load time is longer, but the game runs faster; I have yet to do any of the three actions that more or less guarentee my save game repeatedly crashing. Those things are putting a slave collar on Angela Staley, trying to solve the Replicated Man quest in any fashion other than showing Zimmerman the android part, and trying to enslave Bumble from Little Lamplight. Since none of them are specifically mentioned in the patch, I'm not holding out much hope.Smiley wrote:Just in case people missed it...

Well, Rivet City Market still crashes if I enslave Angela Staley, and Little Lamplight still crashes when I try to enter the office to enslave Bumble.
I don't have the heart to try the Replicated Man, though I do have a theory as to why the crashes happen.

At a guess, since it's a pirated copy, and I think all the things I mentioned are Windows Live achievements/trigger achievements, the game doesn't like trying to record them despite the fact I'm not connected to Live.Smiley wrote:By all means, don't keep us in suspense!
Doesn't explain why other things don't crash it, though.

That's pretty sad that you have to do that with a newer games since dual core should be fairly common by now.Smiley wrote:Just in case people missed it...
