Since many of you own L4D, and because zombies are (usually) awesome, especially crazy running ones with semi-super powers, I thought I'd let those of you know, who don't know already, that the DLC for L4D is free, and available for PC and the 360.
Valve has chosen to release this for free, a move that I fully support, and even after the DLC was not yet ready upon the initial release.

One of the reasons why I *like* Valve as a developer/publisher. It's in their best interest to make the DLC free, as it pushes for people who haven't already purchased their game to.. well, purchase it.
Free DLC, coupled with consistent engine updates makes them nice. It'd be nice if the DLC came out more often then it did, but at the very least their DLC's (free updates and price-based episode content) is a fuckload better then what Bethsoft shove out with their DLC's which feel like shitty 3rd mods...
I haven't played much of the new stuff yet. The Last Stand survivor map is pretty fun, but gets old quickly. (got the gold medal on it in about 6 tries), but it's a nicely designed map, with the few good defensive positions not being exceptionally near ammo supplies.

I bought L4D during the weekend when it was 50% off, but I actually still hadn't installed it yet. I came to visit my brother in London for a week so installed it today, got to say that the new DLC is pretty nice, since the game was quite simplistic in the first place. Adding more levels and more game modes is definately something that they should be doing, so it's a nice gesture. If you played L4D and liked it, try out the new content.

Suffers from a similar problem that things like Zombie Panic! Source and Natural Selection had/have. Shitty maps and shitty mods/"user content" get fairly popular and kill the actual game underneath it that had potential.St. Toxic wrote:Long overdue and not a whole lot to cream your pants about, in my opinion. It's nice they did something but they had to anyway. I'm more curious about seeing more user content out there getting into the mainstream.
Whilst it's not too bad when you have something like Counterstrike with 10 bajillion servers, but when you only have like... 2, then it's seriously fucking retarded.
