Exclusive St. Toxic Interview
<strong>[ Person -> Interview ]</strong> - News related to <a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/archives.php ... ry=37">Top Story: DAC Exclusive</a>
<p>I have interviewed the legendary patriot, St. Toxic and here are his answers;</p><p> </p><span class="postbody">1. What is your profession now and where do you live?
Gosh! What a personal question. I'm currently employed at a
warehouse, handling all aspects of quality control and recount on
recieved articles. It's a temp gig, but that's what they all say rite.
I've also moved around a bit in the past year, finally ending up as Nico's next-door neighbour. :Norway 67: <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... lasses.gif" alt="cool" />
2. How did you learn to draw?
Always had a natural talent for it. You don't really "learn" to
draw; you either draw or you don't, and it improves the more you do it.
Technique is a bit different. Basically, you develop it yourself
from private observations and all manner of tutorships, official or
not. I did go to art-school at a point, but I think it rather made me
more cynical towards art and artists, than improve on my personal
abilities.
3. Have you played any of FO3 DLC and if you did what did you think of them?
I haven't, but I can usually tell when a game is shit without
crawling through it. The way I see it, FO3 was a false bottom and the
DLC's are falling right through it, one after the other, pushing the
envelope with every new release.
4. What games are you currently playing or what was the last game you played?
Mostly multiplayer games, at this point. Team Fortress 2, Left 4
Dead and Insurgency can all be quite entertaining in small doses.
Usually give either one a spin whenever time permits it.
Also, I always jump at the chance of a good co-op experience, and
the last noteworthy one would have to be Men of War / Faces of War. But
setting up a good coop takes some time and effort, and so it becomes a
rare treat.
I can't even remember the last new singleplayer game I played, and
more importantly enjoyed. Probably means it's about time for a FO/FO2
romp, just to refresh my memory on what decent writing and gameplay
looks like.
5. What games are you looking forward to?
None, at the moment. Good games usually come as a complete surprise
these days, and most often you don't hear about them until they're
already up for grabs. Few titles manage to be worth a shit despite the
hype they get.
Although honestly, I'm planning on getting my hands on RE5 for some
cooperative action, when the price drops. Guess I'm sort of looking
forward to that, though I imagine it'll be a waterlogged barrel of fun.
6. Is it true you traveled with Antimeasure IRL?
Oh yeah. More than once actually. He's a fun guy to trek around
with and good at keeping creepy elements away, by being one himself.
We've been to the Netherlands and Germany on one trip, and mother
Russia on another. But the Nerdcon (tm) was the premier trip, and the
only one that was throughly documented. Might be worthwhile to do
another travel-log in the future.
7. What do you think of NMA and the RPGcodex?
A bunch of swell guy. Though the situation seems to be improving. The
Codex is rapidly turning into a 4chan equivalent and I haven't actually
paid any attention to NMA in years, and they're not making any noise,
so I think it's about time to take their pin off the map. A successful
DAC spin-off should obscure both communities at this point.
8. What books have you been reading?
The Carlos Castaneda books. I'm thinking about making a short
hand-book version with all the essential points brought up in his 12
books -- there's a tome of knowledge/mindfuckery in there. I've also
been listening to audio recordings of Lovecraft, T.H White, Philip K.
Dick and a few others. Real goldmine for entertainment.
9. What movies have you watched lately?
Damn, don't think I've actually watched a full feature-length film
in ages. I do remember having a Mad Max-athon, back when I found all
three films in HD quality. I guess that must have been it. <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... lasses.gif" alt="cool" />
10. What do you think of the future of the RPG industry? Is there any hope?
Hope would imply that the industry suddenly grows a heart and a
brain, or that a newcomer to the scene makes an obscure title that
outsells the latest hypefest and becomes the new standard or something.
I don't think that's going to happen. But I do think that there will be
a collapse of the current game industry, as it is now, and that might
bring us a couple of decent niche RPG titles, while companies try to
get back on the horse.
Quite possibly our game preference is passé and will at best make
short comebacks, much the same way outdated fashion does. But I'm an
optimist at heart, so I'd say we'll have some worthwhile RPG's before
our time is up. <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... lasses.gif" alt="cool" />
11. Why did you lead a coo on the RPGcodex? Why do you think people follow with such devotion?
I just had an idea, about an actual military assault on a
non-physical entity, such as an internet forum, and Codex fit the bill.
There was even some provocation. Had we gotten some of the frogs there
to play along, we might even have had a fun game of war, but they're
all butthurt about something over there and don't like to fuck around
-- so no go.
As to why people joined in; DAC is fading into obscurity. Can't
have people openly taking a shit on it, on top of that. The few members
we have are still very zealous, but as we have no cause anymore that
zeal amounts to nothing but a post mortem twitch. DAC needs a bigger
dose of adrenaline to get up and walk, and most of us are itching for
it.
But it has sparked some interesting ideas, at least in my own head,
about how and what we need to move this community forward. I think we
might have an interesting year ahead of us. <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... s/aiee.gif" alt="aiee" />
As a final note, I'd suggest doing a DAC exclusive interview of Blargh next. <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... lasses.gif" alt="cool" /></span>

Not quite, the Official Dawn of War 2 Community forums. That place is full of fucking retards that deserve a good swamping. The only problem is the moderators and admins patrol the place like they've got nothing better to do.

I didn't even know that place still existed and has a few signs of life. Wasn't that site created because they got butt hurt when they posted here or something?Redeye wrote:senisterdenister wrote:I know a forum we could direct our hate on without any fear of retaliation whatsoever. Holy shit, Toxic, I thought you were smarter than that. The guy made up two thirds of that, plagiarized the other third, and was a shitty writer to top it off.The Carlos Castaneda books. About the Codex thing: despite how DU tried to spin it later to make it look like we were victims, no one there took it seriously. We knew it was fun & games. It's just that DU is like the neighborhood kid that always took things a bit too far, like setting your mother's car on fire when playing firemen.

That is as may be, but I've found positive confirmation for some of the things mentioned in his books before having read them, which was the reason I checked them out in the first place. Just like with holocaust denial, I'm willing to look the other way on factual errors and poor presentation if the questionable material fits my predisposition. Besides, making something up is still no worse than making something et alle.baby arm wrote:Holy shit, Toxic, I thought you were smarter than that.
