I couldn't get the loading screen to come up either when I first bought Fallout 3. I tried a load of different fixes, and one of the worked for a while, but the game kept crashing. Now that I've moved to Egypt, I don't have a computer capable of running the game.

On another side note, I just got through mocking my wife about Twilight as she just finished the whole series. I ended up convincing her that the author is terrible.

Friend of mine lost a bet and as a result he has to read his girlfriend's complete collection of the series.

Poor bastard.

The author of Twilight freely admits she's a bad writer. She's a Mormon who uses the vampires in her book not drinking human blood as a lesson about the importance of abstinence and self-sacrifice she feels is important for young girls to learn.

tl;dr She's a fucking awful writer trying to push a dubious moral code through sparkly vampires.

Sweet..That may make my wife stop reading them. If there is one thing that annoys her than me, it is religious agenda.

its not just a religious agenda, it's a "Mormon" agenda! Run away from that shit as fast as Fester.

Yes, girls need to learn about self-sacrifice... God, what a fucking thing to learn from a god damned book.

Let me try to get at something. Is it possible that certain shit cannot be properly conveyed through text, film, paint, etc... and needs to be learned through experience? The Mormon bitch can go fuck herself. I'm frankly sick of preachers, teachers, fanatics, and idealists. Go and suck on my balls, please. I don't give a shit! Fuck.

But the vampire knocks up the human! How is that abstinence?

I'm just talking about the original book.

Are they married or something later on?

I haven't even watched the movies, let alone read the books, though I'll be watching them soon purely to hook up.

That's a losing proposition, Stainless. Watching those movies will turn you gay and make you unable to have sex with a woman. And I'm not talking a masculine, respectable gay like the likes of Subhuman or Cloudnine. It'll turn you into a twishy swell guy who's more interested in doing a girl's hair than pounding her snoodge.

:sadblinky:

Well its either this or I get her drunk again... and a movie ticket is cheaper.

Don't be cheap when it comes to dignity and honor. Those are really the only things anyone ever has to their name these days, and look at how short supply they're both in.

So you'd save a few bucks but become a twishy swell guy in the process.

You need to learn how to perform cost-benefit ratios. Unless you like throbbing penis in your butt. Then continue with your current track - I'm not one to judge.

I wouldn't consider that new information, so much as reiteration of what we've already established.

To Retlaw: Did the author also say that vampires not drinking blood represents abstinence and what-not, or is that your own interpretation? I'm not trying to attack you, or anything. I was just wondering because I think it would be weird for a writer to just completely reveal what the metaphors and symbols in their story mean. Than again so is a story about essentially a teenage girl going out with someone who has a seventeen year-old's body, but is really hundreds of years old (I think,) and who also glows when hit by light (I know he doesn't burst into flames, or die like I would normally expect vampires to do when they are out in the sun.) Maybe I'm just being a little close-minded about such things because I like vampires like Dracula, or the ones in "From Dusk Till Dawn," not ones that don't, or try not to, suck people's blood.

Yeah. The guy who plays the main vampire in the movies also talked about it some - he apparently hates the books but a paycheck's a paycheck.
