MORE film action: "The Road" images and an unknown project

<p>Post apocalyptic films are really getting a lot of press this week. Today, we get a load of images from the film version of Cormac McCarthy's <em>The Road</em>, starring <strong>Viggo Mortensen</strong>. For those who aren't familiar with <em>The Road</em>,<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Road"> read on</a>:</p>

<p>On the heels of the images comes word of yet another post apocalyptic film in the works. From <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 80df4">The Hollywood Reporter</a>:</p>

<p><em>Fox is feeling apocalyptic.

The studio has bought an untitled pitch about the end of the world, with "Live Free or Die Hard" director Len Wiseman in talks to direct and produce.

The project is based on an original idea about a group of people who survive the end of the world and the mystery surrounding how they got to that position. The studio is seeking writers for the project.

The ICM-repped Wiseman is best known for directing the 2007 "Die Hard" sequel for Fox. He's attached to the underwater military actioner "Atlantis Rising" and the futuristic war pic "Shrapnel" but does not have a go picture.

He also directed this year's "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," the most recent pic in that lucrative genre franchise.

The apocalypse and all that follows is going through one of its semi-regular renaissances in Hollywood, with Sony set to release the Roland Emmerich end-of-days pic "2012" on Friday.</em></p>

I remember I have to read the book before the end of the month when the movie comes out. I have a feeling I'm not going to make it.

You probably won't feel the need to see the movie after you read the book. Much like No Country for Old Men, the strength of the book is in it's prose - which can't really be represented well in a movie, rather than the narrative or story, which is all a movie really can deliver.

I'd expect the movie to showcase some of the rare suspense/action type moments in the book, but it's doing the book a disservice if that's the focal point.

The book isn't that long, I read it in about a week and that's just from reading it before bed each night. If you have the time you could finish it in a couple days probably.

Yeah basically. If you actually WANT to read it you can kick it out in a weekend, easily. I read it in less than a week reading it only on my 30 minute lunch at work and maybe a little bit here and there at home.
