STALKER - Call of Pripyat

The game seems vivid alright, the 'wasteland' or Zone is quite full of life. Everything seems to work better (even more realistic!) than in the previous games: sleeping, eating, trading, repairing etc. And here's a taste of some screenshots. Enjoy.
More to come. Stay tuned.

I'm playing a poorly translated (just the text, all voices are original) Russian version at the moment. Even though for the most part the translation's pretty icky, it kind of adds to the feeling: I feel like an American tourist stranded in Ukraine, with people speaking in a silly manner and sometimes even partly in Russian. Gameplay is smooth and there is no longer a slow, crappy and awkward 'introduction period' where you run around with a pistol and have your shorts eaten by blind dogs. It goes straight into action. The quests are nice and the rewards are plentiful. Upgrading has been greatly expanded and it's now actually worth the investment. Hunting for artifacts has also never been so much fun. After each blowout some of the 'hot-spots', which you've already harvested earlier, will regenerate some new artifacts.
And then, more screens:

Should I purchase that or the new Aliens vs Predator game?

Ah, yeah, it was October. I was thinking that it came out in the end of September. Same shit, though.
It looks like you're using the original translation that came out with the first pirated editions, which really makes no sense. Bad idea. There's another translation done by some Russian/English guy, better use that instead.
The one you're using was just run through Babelfish/Google Translate. I used it myself back in October until the decent one was released. Google it up.
Here's a screenie:
There's also a bunch of mods and shit out, like SMRTR STALKER

Or... Did I have to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R to enjoy this? And is it standalone?

Yeah, its like Clear Sky, a completely stand alone game. I imagine you don't have to play the first game to enjoy it, but it would certainly help. I think you can buy it off steam for like 20 bucks tops if you really want to get it.

You guys know where I can obtain Call of Pripyat online legally? Its not on Steam or Impulse, and I really don't trust anywhere else.

It should be available pretty much everywhere within the next week or so.

I wouldn't suggest Gamestop/EBgames ... they semed to have stopped selling PC games. When I asked the girl who was working there about it she said "Steam" and laughed. Bitch.

They still sell PC games, at least where I am. They don't sell used PC games anymore, because with activation codes and whatnot used PC games are worthless.

Yeah, I actually sold my old Medal of Honor games while they were still installed way back when, the poor sucker that bought it never had a chance to play online.

Only after I've located a poorly maintained nuclear reactor and jogged laps of it for a while. To do otherwise would be wasteful. The zone abhors a <deleted>.
Protip :
Call of Pripyat is a pretty awesome experience, far superior to
Clear Sky.

The game is on Steam right now.
Regular price: 30 euros/dollars
Loyalty price: 20 euros/dollars (you get this if you own SHOC or Clear Sky on Steam - I totally have both
)
