Oscars 2010

James Cameron was dreaming if he though Avatar was going to win best movie or director.

I am a little disappointed in the animated film category. I haven't actually seen Up, but it looks too much like a dumb kids movie. I would have given the award to either Coraline of Fantastic Mr. Fox - probably Mr. Fox.

I haven't been paying attention.

Any anti-war speeches or other dumb shit?

Up was fantastic. Better than Coraline by miles. I didn't see Mr. Fox, but I doubt it could surpass the awesomeness of Up. Go see it.

Hurt Locker was the shit, nice to see that despite the continued pussification of the American male, that a movie with hairy, testosterone filled balls (directed by a woman no less) can get love from the Academy.

I thought Coraline was great, better than UP but not by much and only because of that weird ass other world.

Avatar is a crappy movie, its just pretty to look at. Like a bimbo, fun to play with the first couple of times but there really isnt much to build a relationship on.

I only saw the later parts of the show cause I was working but I didn't see any anti-war speeches only just that hurt locker director saying to support the troops etc. Nothing like a Sean Penn or Micheal Moore rant thank god.

I'm kind of surprised the hurt locker was nominated for a lot of stuff and won since it didn't really seem like the type of movie that would win oscars even though it was pretty good. The oscars is more about politics than actually deserving of awards since you have to consider if a nominated person has won before and if so how long ago and things like that. Also have to consider if a person is likely ever to get nominated again and that might play in the fact if they will get the award or not. Also George Clooney always seems kind of like a humble douche when people mention his name on stage.

Jeff bridges sounds like The dude in real life.

Agree with you about Avatar not deserving best picture, but I thought Cameron directed the fuck out of it. Lest we forget this is the man that shot a film almost entirely while submerged in a flooded nuclear cooling tower. The man is no bullshit, and Avatar is an achievement. No bullshit. Agree about Mr. Fox deserving more love, though.

Up was the most depressing kids movie I've ever seen. That shit was worse then Bambi

Cameron has declined.

:sadness:

(Still good, though. I will [partially] excuse the swell guy of Avatar.)

I have to say.. up wasnt that great of a movie, it WAS in fact too much of a little kid's movie. But WALL-E was amazing, i thought it was at least. THAT should have won something.

AND WHY THE HELL IS HURT LOCKER ON THERE. THAT IS FROM LIKE 2 YEARS AGO. I remember watching that a LONG time ago. great movie too btw.

The highlights of this academy awards for me were the blue Ben Stiller, and George Clooney's grimace.

Well, fantasy will always be queer, even if it is infused with sci-fi and ample guns. I'd like to see him return to meat and potatoes gritty sci-fi, because few can do it better. Still, personal preference aside, it wasn't a poorly directed film. The story could have used quite a few more drafts, but the direction was indeed Oscar worthy.

He maintained it the entire night. Probably was passing a kidney stone.

Redeye, Cameron hasn't and probably never will completely recover from Sarah Connor walking away with half of his fortune. That's just how it goes.

Why they decided to increase the number of Best Pic nominees to 10 boggles my mind. Is the field of excellent movies really so deep every year that five nominees didn't do justice? If anything, the opposite is true. I do hope the Academy continues their streak of blessedly short TV broadcasts.
