some questions
is flac still the de facto lossless codec standard? (or was it ever, whatever, mp3 4 life, etc) i.e. should i google for soulja boy warez flac download or something else
purely hypothetically speaking if my mafioso uncle wanted to download lossless dubstp, dnb, hiphop, where would he get it? pm's would be most welcome since personally i don't condone or endorse illegal downloads because it's really bad and stuff and discussing such things here would be most inappropriate

I contend that it's not really all that bad. The only people making money on CD sales are the people decrying them-music industry suits. Artists get paid shit all for selling CDs, most of the time they have to sell 100,000 to break even on a major label contract.Gimp Mask wrote:since personally i don't condone or endorse illegal downloads because it's really bad and stuff and discussing such things here would be most inappropriate
Awareness is being raised among musicians and there is change within the industry, but it's been like this for at least 4 decades, those fat cats don't offer to change their money-making formula so easy. Digital downloading I'd have to do a little more research on the money distribution, but I don't download stuff from the internets anyway, "illegal" or not.
So you can stand by your beliefs, I respect that. Just educating.
As to your original question, yeah flac is pretty commonly used to convert music. If you do some research, look for lossless audio formats, and see if you can see their sample rates and bit rates. Sample rate you want at least 44.1 kHz for CD quality standard (that's the standard analog to digital conversion rate in professional studios, although with new technologies, they might change that one day which would be pretty interesting). Bit rate you want at least 128 kbit per second (CD quality), I don't know if they do 192 kbit/s but that would be better. I record digitally at 44.1 and 192, so anything less would be considered lossy (although I've only done amateur, home studio stuff so that's not saying very much).
Eat a bag of dicks; I'm no hipster (or at least I try not to be).
Goddamn Canadian hipster and your audio-whatsits.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!

hmm well ok i just wanted to find a neo-oink or whatever
you seem more like a clueless, ostentatious moron than a hipster to me, now send me your torrent site invitations plz
what are you talking about and how does that answer my original question? anyway. cd quality bit rate would be about 1400 kbps, but i don't see how that's relevant since flac is lossless, bit rate has fuck all to do with flac really as it doesn't represent the audio quality like with mp3s. i also don't know why you're bringing up a/d conversion, what does that have to do with anything?gobbleykins wrote:As to your original question . . .

Never apologize.gobbleykins wrote:Hey man I was only trying to give you suggestions if you were looking for alternate audio formats apart from flac. Clueless, probably, ostentatious I contend, I was simply trying to help (with more information than needed I guess). Sorry for misunderstanding your intentions.

that what what.cd sounds pretty nifty, very mystique. i would be one happy malaysian indeed if an invite mysteriously appeared in my inbox one day well it doesn't even have to appear mysteriously really, could appear normally as well. until then, hasta. panther power! 2pac out
how you doing gimp flasque
yehh flac is still the lossless standard. mp3 is inherently a lossy format though at 320/v0 settings it's good enough to pass.
torrentech & deepbassnine are the best trackers for drum & bass / dubstep, i cant think of any good hip hop ones, i'll send something over in a minute
