Replacing Stitch & Farsight
Replacing Stitch & Farsight
hi, is there a way to start off with other recruits other than stitch & farsight? i can create and add new recruits @ the Pool, but i'm still wondering how to start off with anyone else other than these 2.
also, to ensure that a Lev 2 stitch/Lev 1 Farsight with 0 exp gets replaced back into the pool after Brahmin Wood. i am looking for the proper method, not the 'kill them off at Mission 1 start and they respawn in Bunker Alpha pool' way.

It might be hard-coded or weirdly implemented in a way not easily changed.BloodGod wrote:hi, is there a way to start off with other recruits other than stitch & farsight? i can create and add new recruits @ the Pool, but i'm still wondering how to start off with anyone else other than these 2.

Here is the link to that FAQSome FAQ wrote:---------------------------------

a. Installing patch and unpacking .bos file
Obviously you will need Fallout Tactics updated to version 1.27 with
editor. Most "gold editions" or re-editions are already updated, so before
you apply patch, check which version of FT:BOS you already have. To do so
just launch the game and check numbers in lower left corner of screen.
Before you use editor to alter game files you must make backup copy of
Entities_0.bos file in core directory:
..your path to game...\Fallout Tactics\core\Entities_0.bos
Some versions of editor unpack and work directly on .bos file, but in most
cases you will need to manually unpack Entities_0.bos file. Just copy this
file somewhere, preferably to rather accessible place, and rename it to
Entities_0.zip and unpack it using WinZip, WinRar or freeware 7-Zip.
b. Altering recruit files and updating .bos file
Now launch Fallout Tactics Editor either from Start Menu group or from
game directory: ..your path to game...\Fallout Tactics\FT Tools.exe
Choose option "Entities editor". In the upper menu choose "File" then "Open".
Using file browser go to the location where you unpacked Entities_0.bos.
Go to: ..your path to unpacked Entities_0.bos...\entities\recruits\
You will see files of all recruits. Open file hf03.ent, which is the file
of your very first recruit "Farsight". To recreate her use button "Make".
You will see familiar character creation screen. Just distribute all
attribute points, traits, tag skills and skill points. You can also rename
character, change age and colours.
NOTE: For some reason changing colours for Farsight and Stitch make no effect
in the game. Farsight has black suit and Stitch has dark grey. Also changing
avatar is rather complicated.
NOTE: For sake of compatibility do not change gender or race or it may result
in some erratic behaviour of game.
When you're done apply changes and once again open menu "File" then "Save as"
and save your character file somewhere. Exit Fallout Tactics Editor and go
to your renamed file Entities_0.zip. Open it with WinZip, WinRar or 7-Zip and
go to: \entities\recruits\
Now insert updated hf03.ent file into the archive to alter it. Rename updated
Entities_0.zip to Entities_0.bos and move it to game core directory:
..your path to game...\Fallout Tactics\core\
Launch the game and start new character. In the first mission Farsight should
have your altered statistics.
The FAQ was available then as well.Retlaw83 wrote:4 years late is better than not at all, right? RIGHT?
Fucker could have posted it himself.
Let's have some "Last Hurrahs" for DAC, unless we're considering Lichdom.
Well, even then.
WTH
I'd say it's 75% complete on the actual jamming stuff in there. Then I need to hunt down voice actors.
I'm aiming for a summer release now. Stress in real life and some technical hurdles are delaying me. I did figure out how to make the Germantown mutants non-hostile so you can play through that part like an actual Fallout game, which is nice.

I don't have any immediately available equipment, but I might be able to get some. My larynx has been toasted a few times over, and my voice is a little more distinguished.Retlaw83 wrote:I'd say it's 75% complete on the actual jamming stuff in there. Then I need to hunt down voice actors.

Tom (Dogmeatlives) was actually doing some of this not so long ago, but he's a pretty excellent voice actor. You should shoot him a facebook message, he'll get back to you quick
He hit me with a friend request and I accepted it. Also got your message but I haven't had time to look at what you sent, I'll reply when I have an opinion.
Right now the major voices I need are:
- Fatherly Mariposa mutant
- Threatening Mariposa mutant
- Folksy, sheriffy-sounding Mariposa mutant
- Leader of the Mariposa mutants
- The supermutant who eats that one guy from Bigtown
- Enclave general
- Enclave lieutenant
- Female Enclave Sergeant
- Young Enclave soldier
- Seasoned Enclave soldier
- Another seasoned Enclave soldier
- Enclave supply officer
- Enclave doctor
- Enclave pilot
- Female human NCR Ranger captain
- Male human NCR Ranger
- Male ghoul NCR Ranger
- Male supermutant NCR Ranger
- Female Olney survivor
- Grown up version of Knick-Knack
- Female voice for a talking eyebot
- Male and female Children of the Cathedral members
- A raider queen
- Possibly others
Having written that out, I'm wondering what the fuck I've gotten myself into.

Maybe email this guy?
Some weird, out of the blue email request.
Why not?
The name Mordecai Kratz was suggested by viewers as the name for my Plague Doctor character, but I already picked another suggested name. So I decided to put Mordecai to use. So thanks!
As far as Wasteland / Fallout are concerned, I played Wasteland when it came out on the Commodore 64 and I played the Fallout series as well, though I never finished #3 or the add-ons. One of the best video game series of all time, IMO.

I'll keep him in mind. I actually listen to ASMR stuff to try and get to sleep most nights, was also considering asking another Youtuber called Heather Feather if she'd be interested - the female voices are going to be the hardest to recruit.

I haven't touched it in about a month, other than bug fixes to things that are already there - it's a nice mod to bug fix because it sort of just merges with normal gameplay.
I have to finish up the Enclave ending, do the Enclave Broken Steel stuff, make the quests that tie the Mojave Brotherhood and Outcasts together, and figure out how I want the Vault 87 stuff to go. I also have some kick-ass lines written for major encounters.
All the item stuff is done until I get another stupid idea to jam in there.

Just content, though the textures are based off of Cabal's BornAgain stuff as a base. Also some creature assets other modders made but never got into proper mods. Also using Trickyvein's awsome sandcrete tile kit for a couple of things - it lets you make buildings that look like the post-war structures from the original Fallouts.

I remember those! Eager to see what you put up!
Also, do you remember the layout of the Cafe of Broken dreams? Would you have any interest in that? I only bring it up because Fallout 3's dogmeat had a ton of utility, and putting him (and/or maybe others from old games) with the user-made reskin would be pretty excellent. If it's a bit too much, especially for now, we can shelve the idea.
I spoke with a few friends; a couple of my nerdier female friends, who have pretty and very unique voices, expressed real interest and enthusiasm at the idea of voice acting for the mod. I'm certain I can round some more people up for it if you're still interested.

Awesome. I had The Girl Who Was Death from the TTW forums express some possible interest, too, so that should get things squared away nicely.
I like the idea of the Cafe of Broken dreams, but that's a ton of characters to add.
