What tiles you´d like to see?

I´d like to know, if there are any tiles/sprites one of you map-gods would like to have for your maps. I´m talking of rather simple things like the gaspump, certain posters or signs, stuff like that. I won´t have that much time, because of a lot of (real-world) work, but I´d really like to support you guys in making maps. Besides I´m working on a new tileset, a fast food restaurant complete with its own wall- and rooftiles. So far I´ve rendered about 30 tiles, mainly basic wall and window tiles, it´s really a lot of work. So that´s why I can´t make really time-consuming stuff right now.
But if there´s anything that can be done rather quickly and which you´d need now, I´d be happy if you post it in this topic.

Well... since you ask, Senor D,
...
Is there any chance you could rattle off a honky-tonk style upright piano? I'm pretty sure there isn't one in the standard tile-set, even though, oddly enough, there's an entire folder in
Ruined City ==> Objects dedicated to pretty much every musical instrument in the classical orchestra.
Here's a couple of screen-shots I found after a hunt on Google:
Unfortunately, my sister has my copy of the Sims at the moment, or I'd provide screenshots of it's upright piano from all four angles. As I've seen discussed in one of the other threads, apparently the Sims' isometric projection is identical to that of FoT. Could any one else provide said 'shots?
There's no great rush for this particular tile, Senor
it's just something that I think would give a post-war bar-room a touch of frontier atmosphere. If you could consider building it so that it provides cover for a character stooping or crawling, but not fully standing (so's he can shoot over the top) I'd be much obliged.
Play it again, Sam,
Steve

You know Senor, I had the thought recently, FoT doesn't really have any cooking stoves like FO and FO2. I wanted to make one myself, but as I'm just in the process of learning my own renderer, I would really like to see your perspective on it.
Would you require some screenshots, or you own the above mentioned games? If you do own them, from memory, there were cooking stoves in Aradesh's house and I think in Vault City(FO and FO2 respectivelly).

Stevie D, I do already have a sprite created for an upright player piano that I ripped from The Sims. I'll send it to you later if you're interested.

Alright, I´ll see what I can do with the piano. Shouldn´t be too much work.
As for the cooking stoves, I´ll check Vault City (I don´t have FO1 installed at the moment).
or you own the above mentioned games?
Strange questions are being posted on this forum...

You'll never guess which established members never played them(I know of at least one, not me of course)

Well, if you're taking requests...
I second the request for the stove. I'm getting tired of using stone half-walls w/molten metal in them to look like embers.
I think a serious oversight in the poster collection should be amended. I'm talkin' Rosy the Riveter, baby!
The fast food restaurant sounds good. It would look good next to the bowling alley, methinks.
Cheers,
OTB

Yoink! Yes please, JJ.
That email, again:

BTW, is this your handiwork, for the sake of knowing who I need to put in the map's credits section?
Cheers!

*cough*
Anyway, I'd also like some weed tiles - big, white refrigerators that don't look busted up, stoves, microwaves, etc. Maybe even a chef's hat!
Hmmm... maybe even a spr of that frige I mentioned... that'd make a neat container entity...

OK, first I´ll do the piano, then the stove, but I gotta ask you for a little patience, I think somewhere around the end of next week would be a realistic time for me to post them.
I´ll keep the posters (I downloaded about 300 WW2 US propaganda posters a while ago, some of which were used in the FO1/2 opening movies) and the fridge in mind and will start on this as soon as I got the other stuff, piano and stove, ready. I´d also do some "mission specific" tiles or sprites, like certain signs that refer to places or people in your map. Something to make your maps even more unique and credible. Whatever, let me know.
Btw, my fastfood restaurant progresses, 55 tiles are ready, but it´s still basic walls and windows (everything´s done except northeast-direction tiles), some floor tiles and caps will be next, then roof and further variation on walls (more ruined types) and finally I´ll do signs, counter and furniture.

Drool
... if this post alone doesn't warrant a section devoted to custom tiles, I don't know what does.
Looking forward to seeing the goods, El Deluxe.

Um... there are microwaves in the FO universe? Don't think so.

I got two words for you, Max: Motherfuckin' Dual-Jewel.
Max(_x_)Violence wrote:Hmmm... maybe even a spr of that frige I mentioned... that'd make a neat container entity...
That reminds me! FoT has those freezer/ice chests, but the RPGs had a much better container: a cooler, you know, the type of thing used exclusively for beer by college students. If someone can do that up as a container that would be "truly spiffy".
Red: While there aren't any microwave ovens in the FO universe I don't see anything wrong w/making a tile for it. There have been maps in the past that weren't set in the FO universe and I don't see why people can't use FoT for things other than FO.
Senor Deluxe: Time is not an issue. Since you are doing us a great service putting your impressive talents to work for us I think I speak for everybody when I say that we won't pester you to get these things done "lickety-split". I can't wait to see your fast food restaurant tiles. Do you have a "fallouty" name picked out for use on the signs yet?

Senor Deluxe, I sent Stevie a sprite and photoshop file of the piano that I created already. You may want to check with him to see if that is what he wants.

I got... umm.... one contraction, a verb, a pronoun, a plain word, and an exclamation point for ya: Haven't seen it anywhere!
OnTheCrack wrote:Max(_x_)Violence
Tee hee hee... that's a good 'un! Spoken aloud, that'd be, "Max, but Violence" or "Max Butt Violence."
*ahem* So anyway...
Sr. Deluxe: Could you make me a big-ass sign (perhaps one "story" tall - i.e. 12 hieght levels, like a wall tile) that says: Welcome to Twisted Rock, then under that, have: Population: Dwindling
Have the "top" text in... green and the bottom in... purple? Hm... dunno... lemme know when yer gonna start on it and I'll tell ya (assuming yer gonna make the sign in the first place, of course
). Dunno what direction I want it facing... prolly south... yea, south's good.
Here's to new tiles!

JJ,
Unfortunately I couldn't get the piano tile to work.
It had the
.spr extension and I'm afraid I don't know how to convert it to the
.til format.
And rather than mucking Senor Deluxe about and not making a decision, I think, having had a look at the photoshop you sent as well, JJ, that the Sims piano might look a bit fresh and new in a post-nuclear world. But thanks for sending it anyway.
Senor D, if you could forge ahead on that piano tile, I would appreciate it.

Alright, MaxV, I´ll put your Sign on my "Things To Do" List, but maybe you could specify how wide it should be (12x1x?), then I´ll love to do it. As soon as I´ve got the other stuff ready.
I thought my fastfood restaurant could be called "Mr. Fusion".
About microwave ovens: I don´t know, I really love "fallouty" stuff, but maybe something that looks similar but a bit more 50s like, a fusion-powered ultra-shiny thing, something every neat housewife MUST have.
And the cooling box!!! Yeah, that´s right, I loved them in FO!
OK, back to work, I won´t be around very often in the next days, it´s somehow hard to post and to work on tiles at the same time...

OTB is absolutely right Senor Deluxe. Time is not a real issue. Anyways from what you're saying it will not be much more than a month before we see that tiles, so that's realy fast. I'm making a specific tile set and for the past weak I was toying with the first one so for all these tiles you're making plus your own project(and btw for those not seeing at least one of the them they're totally beautifull, I've seen an animated one on a video SD sended me).
StevieD you don't have to convert a sprite to tile to place it on game, You can have it as is, with the added bonus you could probably make play a sound or something when the player clicks on it. JJ86, I'll apreciate it if you send it to me, you now my mail.
Btw, Stevie D you must think broader when it comes to map making. Not every tile has to look rusty and old to fit in. For instance a new piano could be placed in a hypothetical underground museum, perhaps a Vault or even manufactured Pre-War and somehow got through intact, or after war even, people have building them for centuries with much worse tech than they had in the fifties.
If they could have FO/FO2 robots so long after the war, I imagine some piano could survive.

Stevie D, with the piano I would suggest using it as a sprite and not trying to change it into a tile. Just make a new object entity and you will be good to go. For some things it makes more sense to make it as a sprite than a tile. Consider that as a sprite you can associate some form of speech to use the item as a trigger or you can use the object as a container, or you can place the object suddenly with the move unit trigger.
As far as the brightness of the piano, just place a bright light around it as you might find on a stage.

Oh... the penny drops... I use it to create my own entity?

That does make sense... does the sprite come with it's own bounding box, though? (Marvel, as I demonstrate my ignorance.
)
Also, the entity editor is an area that I haven't explored, yet... I take it I can define fully what flags and labels can be attatched to custom entities?
Thanks gents,
Steve
