QLD Floods.

Post by Alister McFap II Esq. »

Being located in Brisbane, I'm in the heart of mayhem and destruction.
Due to my survival skills and general paranoia I'm well supplied with everything. Gladly my place is at an elevated spot, so I can relax. If not, I'm prepared! TOLD YOU SO, ASSHOLES!

Image

The Lockyer Valley has been flooded and many people were evacuated from the smaller towns and villages.
Helicopters are flying around constantly, a lot of them military, which is a bit scary.
75 % of Queensland is flooded.
One day before shit hit the fan I had a drive through the Lockyer Valley. Roads were already a bit flooded, but I was oblivious to what would happen over the following days. It's strange to know that towns I've visited days ago stopped existing.

Suburbs along the river flooded. Ipswich is flooded. The areas evacuated.
The Drift Restaurant in Brisbane has drifted away in the floods and is no more. A lot of damage to boat ramps, boats, houses.
CBD partially flooded.
The peak is expected around tomorrow.

Around here it's perfectly fine. I might take a drive to the city later on, take some fresh pics and see how the general situation is.
It should be a bit worse than yesterday.

Took a drive around town. Chaos.
Many roads are inaccessible, unless one has a boat or a Schwimmwagen.
Getting around town is a pain.
Took some pictures with my phone, can't be fucked to transfer them now, but I might post them later. Got yelled at by some guy on his balcony for trespassing - but I just wanted a better shot of the flooded Jazz Club.

Does your area have a storm drain system or was the flood just so large it couldn't do anything?

Reminds me of the movie Heavy Rain with Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman, it was pretty good I thought.

I live 30 KM away from the CBD. It's not along the brisbane rivier where I am. I'm in the south east of town. Creeks here are a bit full, but that's about it.
The floods come from the excess water in the Wivenhoe dam.

My district has a seperate dam etc...

TL;DR

I'm too 1337 to get flooded. :pelvic_thrust:

I'll do some volunteer work tomorrow. Help cleaning up and shit. Some XP and perhaps I find some jewelry or mutants. :larp:

Nice report Fap, Some good imagery there.

First picture is brilliant, some proper framing and it'd be cover stuff.

Oh fuck, I'll do it.

Dread went to go help clean up like a few days ago and came back all butt hurt because there wasn't any work for him because he didn't realize that you can't really do much when its currently flooded. He thought he was going to come back the savior of the town or something.
