I'm thinking about either replaying Fallout 1 or playing some command and conquer 2.
Let's talk antiques.
Edit: and no atari shit and whatnot.

I play X-Com and Master of Orion 2 and 3 all the time, but I don't see how this just can't be in the "What game are you playing right now" thread.

If by Command and Conquer 2 you mean Tiberian Sun, that game sucks and you're a swell guy. Go with the original or Red Alert.

Could you stop thinking that someone cares about your opinion? Although I agree that Red Alert is fucking awesome, I think Tiberian Sun is way superior. Be it just for the music. And all the cool mods. Get out of my thread... there's no food here anyway.

I like Tiberian Sun more than Tiberian Dawn. I like Red Alert 2 more than Red Alert. I thought the gameplay between the first and the second were improved in both cases, and they looked better, and they had better soundtracks.
Not saying the originals were bad, god no, they're better than most RTS's out today, but I thought the sequels were better. Personal preference.

The soundtracks for both sequels were crap compared to the original two.

Klepacki is brilliant.

Realms of Arkania was a true wonder in the olden days. Don't think it stood well against the test of time though.
Same with Darklands.
If you're looking for something easier to get into, and still a classic of old (I should as fuck would these days!) try:
Total Annihilation
Gothic
Starcraft
Warcraft
Duke Nuken 3D
Deus Ex
Doom
Quest for Glory IV
other point and click games (I'm sure I missed a buttload)
Heretic (I personally find this one better than Doom but to each their own!)
Star Control 2 (if you got the patience for something of that calibre and that old, I sure as fuck don't)
System Shock 2
Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
Civilization II: Call to Power
Will add more as I stretch my memory.

You're like a little child that just says NO out of defiance. How old are you again?

Oh, and with Walter pissing on everything I forgot to say this. I got his shit on my ipod together with the Fallout soundtrack and shit. Fallout OST is so awesome for studying.

Klepacki is probably the best game composer out there correct me if I'm wrong.

Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge did wonders for both the engine, graphics, and complexity while keeping beautifully epic artwork, music, and writing (for the most part). The Tiberian Sun series was good, but I always preferred Red Alert. Shame Red Alert 3 was done in such a horribly ill-advised direction that it shames the series. It seemed conversely that the TS sequels got better, though I didn't play them nearly as much as I did the first.
Playing Civ IV, looking for any good mods. It's not yet promising.

Ultima Underworld: Stygian Abyss, definitely. I've heard the sequel, UWII, is also pretty good, but I've never played it myself.
It's actually better than Oblivion in many ways

No, I'm a man that speaks truth because it's the truth. You know Frank Klepacki did the soundtracks for all the C&C games we're discussing, right?
But hey, you at least managed to come up with a joke that didn't involve fat. You keep trying and maybe one day you'll come up with an insult.

Playing Rome total war. I bribed a settlement, but my army was far away, so the people rebelled, so I had to kill a lot of them.

Not really old but a proper remake of an old game, Sid Meier's Pirates is totally avast! If it wasn't for the walk the plank dancing minigame it'd be even groggier. But hey, at least I'm shiver me timbers at it, it's all about plunder.
Do want something that expands on it, tho.
Also, since you talkin bout old game music, how bout
Jeff Briggs? Dude was on Pirates Gold! (
great 1600-1800's mix and some solid originals) and some of Microprose's classics from
Sword of the Samurai (and I can't stress this enough THIS GAME IS THE SHIZNIT really, do try) onwards.
