...once you're addicted to a chem, will it go away after a given period of time, or are you stuck with it?? Or is there a way of dealing with it other than continuously taking the chem? I mean, I only took one radaway, and I got addicted. WTF??

Walk it off......

I'm think there are certain penalties to your stats when you get addicted and then stop using the said drug. It'll go away eventually, at least it did for anway.

It depends on the drug, too. Certain addictions, like RadAway, will go away if you go cold turkey. Just expect to get stopped from time to time when travelling and get messages about withdrawal symptoms. Jet, however, can only be cured by the Jet antidote.

I believe all drug addictions last for a week, except Jet addiction which is only curable by the jet antidote. Be careful when using Jet as you easily get addicted, I rarely/never use it.

Back in the old days, when i was a n00b i thought mentats was some kind of board game that helped you excersise your brain. And i thought that was the reason for the stats increase.
Pretty dump huh

I checked Per's FO2 guide and found some details on drugs and addiction.

Item Risk Effect Duration
Buffout 25% (21%) ST -2, EN -2, AG -3 7 days
Jet 50% (49%) AP -2, ST -1, PE -1 Indefinitely
Mentats 15% (18%) IN -3, AG -2 7 days
Nuka-Cola 10% (9%) None? 7 days
Psycho 20% (19%) IN -2 7 days
RadAway 10% (10%) Radiation Resistance -20 7 days

Ok, didn't know there was a nuka-cola addiction..

jet is fun. the first time i played fo2, i made it as fun as possible, by experimenting with EVERYTHING.
wiping out vault city, gecko, modoc, the den
getting addicted to everything, jet, radaway, buffout, mentats, nukacola, and psycho
other shananigans like becoming a porn star, gigilo, child killer, the list goes on...
needless to say, i had to restart the game because i REALLY killed everything.

In that case, the 'Which Fallout character are you?' test went terribly wrong. :)

Couldn't agree more.

BTW, VasikkA, I've only heard of Nuke-Cola addiction, haven't really seen one myself. But I figure maybe it will take you several hundred thousand bottles just for the effect.

Too bad this comp doesn't have Fallout installed, otherwise I'd try. My guess is, they only put the nuka-cola addiction as a joke. Reminds me of the Nuka-cola addict(Dugan?) in Blades' building in the Boneyard.

Actually you can get addicted with only one nuka-cola. Its just a percent chance maybe like a .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000003% chance or something but it happened to me.

Yup.

Yeah, but I meant that there's no actual effect that the addiction causes, so I don't know why the addiction was implemented into the game. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey Vasikka, do you have anything on the duration that the drugs affect you? I want to make the drugs in FoT more like the in the RPGs, since my mod isn't designed for MP.

Also, why are there two percentages listed for Risk (i.e. 25% (21%) for Buffout)?

I don't remember exactly, but I think the drug effect lasts for 8 hours. :?

The first percentage is the correct one, the one in parenthesis is Per's own experiments before he found the correct percentages.

The guide can be found HERE.

Okay, I checked out the guide. It's actually pretty good, too. He's got the info on duration listed, and it varies considerably by type, like I thought.

Please take the notice of his mention of "Red!" as well as a few notes about "Sebastien Caisse", since I spent quite a lot of time decrypting the decompiled scripts for him to verify information for him. Yey!

Don't worry, Red, you're already in my "+4|\||< j00" list. ;)

It'd be even better if you'd spell it correctly.
