should radiation do realistic damage (blindness, baldness etc.), or mutate you in some way (grow an extra arm, grow a few feet taller etc.)
I remember some game (Abomination) that this virus was taking over the city. You had to clean it up, but as more and more virus went over the city (you were failing) your team got mutated and better...
So a little radiation at the start could harm you mabye, then you get extra perks like an extra arm, or a 5 foot tongue (at the cost of charisma)
Obviously in a way that it would resemble that of the sci-fi pulp that Fallout is fashioned from, mutations. Giant mutations like the Radscorpions (we'll ignore MCA's nose candy version), and more would be great. I also thought that the wanamawhathefuckarethesethings might be best explained as radioactive ants, than the shitty no history or reason for "aliens" being in there.
Both are OK. In fact, the PC would first feel the 'realistic' radiation damage as a warning(cancer would suck though) and if gotten a larger dose, maybe mutate to some degree. An extra toe or finger at the cost of charisma is appropriate, perhaps not quite mutate into centaur kind of freaks. I'd like to 'accidentally' fall into a FEV container.
If that works, those are other types of mutations I want to. Fetuses growing out of your chest/3 breasts/the head of a fly/scales/your arms turning into dicks etc.
I voted for damge as you can most likely remedy that
What if you mutated into something useless like Harold and can't fight anyone, let alone hold a heavy weapon
