Boneyard Adytum Crisis.
Last week I replayed fallout [again...] and I've spend a LOT of time getting the Adytum situation perfectly right. But it did not work.
The problem is Zimmerman. You've killed the deathclaws, got to the Gun Runners and told them to give the guns to the Blades, went to the Blades, got the tape with Regulator Transmissions, tell them you want to see Zimmerman first, before the attack. You go to Zimmerman.
Let him listen to the tape. He goes mad at the regulators.
1) Go out of conversation, wait a second and the Regulator behind him will say "We have no need for you anymore then, old man" and shoots Zimmerman for 250 damage. The Blades arrive and battle begins.
2) After going out of conversation, immediately draw your gun during the second pause and shoot the guard down. Blades arrive, battle begins.
After the battle Zimmerman will go hostile on you and got killed by dogmeat [or someone else ;)] I feel this to be in error.
3) Before letting Zimmerman listen to the tape, superstim the guard.
With the guard dead let him listen to the tape. He goes mad, converstation ends. Nothing happens. Click on Zimmerman and a dialogue box goes up and immediately goes down again.
Walk away and one of the regulators will begin to shoot at you.
Due to the time nescesary for superstimming Razor is down, so no Blades will come to help. Zimmerman will still get hostile on you.
After you did 2) and every good guy except Zimmerman is dead, Razor will appear in town. However, at the Blades residence you'll similary find her dead body. That's a glitch probably.
Oh and BTW: I ran it with the patch installed.

Tell me about it
I'm in a similar position to you and am unsure what the best course of action is
I'm playing a good character and what is the best solution?

No errors, you just cannot save Zimmerman.

How do you get the tape with the regulator transmissions?

I've never got it right either. It must be a design bug.
You get the regulator transmission tape from Razor, in the Blades' place in Boneyard, IIRC. Get the conversation right and she'll give it to you.

^^^all you have to do is be nice and understanding  to get the tape from Razor.

Don't tell Zimmerman, start slaughtering the Regulators immediately. Whenever I did this, they pwned Zimmerman immediately, too. There's simply no way to save Zimmerman.

I remember giving the tape to Zimmermann and standing between him and the regulator to try and save him. I still wonder how the hell the regulator can pull 250 damage every time with his boom-stick.
Needless to say, I was killed.
Also, whenever one of the villagers got shot accidentally (whether it was by my character, one of my NPC's or one of the blades), they'd all turn hostile and the thing'd end up in a freakin' bloodbath

Too bad! It was a nice idea though. Is it even possible to get 250 HP's?
It's a pity. Most of the time you see that the raider normally wouldn't kill Zimmerman with a shotgun shot --> 'wounding shot'-animation, but not a 'fatality'-animation. One blink later he's lying in a puddle of blood on the floor tho.

Yup. Noticed it too one time.
Pity there apparently isn't any solution to it. And yes, I do see it as an bug that Zimmerman goes hostile to you and the Blades after he listened to the tape.

Zimmerman can't survive if you get rid of the Regulators. The idea is that Razor take over Adytum, I suppose. Though I wonder why there's no slide for the Boneyard at the end of the game explaining what happened to that crazy little town. The best we get is that the Followers of the Apocalyspe were destroyed.

They were really destroyed?

I suppose you could get 250 HP and even more with FalChe, but I was too lazy to try it at the time.
There's only one ending for the Blades that I can remember of (played FO1 an eternity ago), and it's the one which says they were destroyed.

FalChe? 8O What's that?
And I never hear the narrator mention anything about the Blades or the Adytowners, he only tells the Followers get destroyed - for not completing the broken spy quest.

You're right, WR. My bad, I was thinking about the Followers, not the Blades.

IS there any good ending for the followers?
cause just this time when i replayed it, i got the knife chick, and the posse of followers and killed the master (only 1 follower died!)
but still, the followers of the apocylipse were crushed by the mutant army... and were also picked over by "barely human carrion feeders"
also... what was that that the ghoul in the basement there said about a spy? i couldnt understand him. something about a spy, either in the followers or from the followers? dunno

The spy quest with the followers is broken, so you can't actually save them. It's about the only thing in Fallout you can't save, aside from the Hub, of course.

Indeed, there is a good ending for the Followers. But, as has been mentioned before - it's unachievable. The idea is that the Children of the Cathedral have a spy in the Followers' ranks, whom you have to expose in order to save the Followers. Sadly, the quest was implemented, but the spy was not.

What about the hub, suppose you really do all quests; the missing caravans, the raider' farm, kill Decker (and the thieves??!) IS there no possible good ending?

I always thought I got the bad ending for the Hub because I took too long to finish the game (even when I hurried up).
