Linearity?
How linear should fallout be?
The morrowind type linearity, where you usually forget what your doing? Or the diablo where it's nice and simple. So simple it's piece of shit and you only play it for 10 mins at a time.

heheh.
if you hvae ever played Avernum2 (spiderweb software) i would say that it shouldnt be as non-linear as that. i forgot what i was doing the second i got a new quest. lol
diablo had such crappyness in story line. you would have to be retarded to not know what to do next. i mean, even if you did find the quest object or whatever it was, you could solve it by just clicking on it.. heheh
but, as far as linearity, i say that the quests should require some investigation--ie the water chip. if you are smart enough, you would know right away were it was, but if not, you could figure it out with some snooping.
i also like freedom in a game, i hate having to go like 1 level at a time, it just sucks

Re: Linearity?
Do you realise how great sin you've just commited? You'll burn in hell for that .Pyro wrote:How linear should fallout be?
I'd say that Fo1 WAS linear. But some randomly put quests once available, other time not, because smbd had done it before you or it's just too late, would fix it and add great to replayability. More quests that are available only for certain kinds of characters - there is no caravan driver that would hire anybody that doesn't at least look strong (strength&endurance), since they've got enought troubles without identifying your corpses.
That's what i think.
I like BIG guns...

Vassika, interesting idea.
However, perhaps instead you have, at first, one plot than as you make certian desicions (say, giving the location of the Vault to the Master), it could become drastically diffirent.
This would be good for two reasons-
Conserve time in terms of programming
The surprise to see what is diffirent the second time (i.e Johchime in Arcanum or how you are banished in Arcanum also).
