Wright's son mission.

Alright. I've recently started playing Fallout 2, again. It's been a while so forgive me if I sound a wee bit unsure about this mission. With the help of Chris I've convinced Keith to let me see Mr. Wright, and Mr. Wright wants me to find out who caused his son's O.D, I've done this before and this is what I recall.

1. Check with all the dealers. They each deny selling Wright's son drugs.

2. Resenco says that Jules and Jimmy both sell arsenic laced Jet.

3. Both Jules and Jimmy deny it and say Resenco is lying.

4. Talk to someone in the Wright family and they tell you which room was Richards. In their you find a used Jet inhaler, laced with rad scorpion poison.

5. Show it to all the dealers. Resenco is the one, hired by Salvatore.

6. Tell Wright that Salvatore is to blaim.

My problem is I can't remember who to ask about Mr. Wright's son's room. I've asked Chris. Asked Keith. Asked Mrs. Wright and Mr. Wright. Here's what happened.

Mrs. Wright= Seem very upset about her son's death. And blaims the dealers which fill up the streets of Reno.

Mr. Wright= Tells me to find out who did it and if I don't he'll kill me.

Chris= Appreciates my help. Reckons it was lil' Jesus of the Mordino crime family who sold the 'bad' jet.

Keith= Mentions his brother (Richards) room is not to be disturbed, because Mrs. Wright is still mourning. But I can't seem to ask if I can check it out. Do I like need a high speech level??

I had this problem, too. You need an intelligence of seven or more in order to ask Mr. Wright to look in Richard's room. I think Keith (or whatever the name of the one who stands outside the door is) will then tell you which room it is.

If you don't have the intelligence, you can just frame whichever dealer you don't like and you can still move on to the Sierra Army Depot quest.

I never knew you could do that. But then again I always have intelligence of 7.

That quest was a mystery for me for a long time...but now I know how to do it. But the main point is to get to SAD so....you can always frame someone.

Ah... Probably Per's as it's the only one I know containing such details, quite a few thanks to me, though now he knows how to decompile them by himself and can read the code, albeit he's not updated his walkthough since he was able to do that.

Ok now I'm having trouble. I got the bad jet inhaler but when I ask renesco he doesn't say anything about Salvatore.

You need to show the canister to Jagged Jimmy Jay and he'll mention it's laced with radscorpion venom, from there you go to Renesco. I really liked this quest as it's not really that important how you finish it (though I recommend you let Renesco live so you can help out Broken hills... Not to mention the medical (I think) enhancer). Every time I played the game I ended up with a different conclusion (until I read a walkthrough which explained it all that is).

I managed to trigger a bug later on to get the XP both for pointing out it's renesco and THEN telling them it's actually the salvatores, but I've not been able to reproduce it.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that bit. Then when he tells you it Salvatore you can threaten to report him to the Wrights. But he'll offer you a 'discount' on his store items. You tell Wright that Salvatore is behind it and he says he can't do nothing about it. So then he asks you to go check out the Sierra base.

Since I felt sorry for him, I went and got the job of the Mordinos which asks you to kill Salvatore and then I butt fucked that old bastard. And stole his bodyguard's armour and pair of cool glasses. Not to mention a truck load of laser pistols!

Do you become a made man for the mordinos if you do that job?

I always got some XP for telling Wright a suspect and some more XP for telling him it was the Salvatores. Is this the bug?

Sometimes. After doing the quest he just gave me some stuff and made me leave.

First time I played I blamed Little jesus, but unfortently, you can't get his knife and his family attacks you when you walk past the casino

I think you are supposed to get exp. twice during that mission. Not sure.
I'll play that through today or tomorrow and confirm than later.

What happens if you already have killed the salvatores before you took the mission?

Nothing, just don't tell him that you killed them.

And then the head Wright guy says you have done basically nothing, since most of the Salvatores' power is out of town..

Yeah, there's a way to get the XP from the Wrights first quest twice but I don't know how to reproduce it.

When you threaten Renesco for the discount, you need to take it right away as if you do later the "discount" won't work. To "use" the discount, put something of at least 1$ value (say... 1$! :P) and then slap everything he has EXCEPT his money. all his items are now worth 0$ even though his money's still worth the normal value... There's nothing bad in doing that either. I strongly suggest NOT killing him afterwards because of the two extra items you can get from him (and I personally don't like killing shopkeepers as they're source of fresh mney...)

Yopu don't become a made man for any of the families until you talk to to the head guy. So you can do all the quests and then not talk to them.

There are ways to become made man to all 4 families.

I've heard of it. I think it was something with the order of whom you join.. never done that and I don't see the good coming out of it. I usually keep my nose clean from the families. Or then I kill them.

BTW is there a "happy ending" for New Reno? I've never figured if there is.
