Duck and Cover

On the back of Fallout 2, the game clearly states that you can 'Get married' and 'Pimp your wife for chump change'. I've finished the game several times now but I've never figured out how to get my character married. I've found out who it is. Apparently it's Grisham's daughter in Modoc. I try to sleep with her, which if I do apparently I get treated to a shotgun wedding afterwards, but I always get stopped- Mr. Grisham walks in on us. So I tried to get round it with several logical solutions:

1. I tried to lock the door. The door has no way of being locked.

2. I left Super-mutant Marcus in front of the door, blocking the way. This only causes the game to crash, and obviously wasn't intended.

3. I tried giving Mr. Grisham a hefty dose of alcohol and tribal herbs in an attempt to lower his perception. He still walks in on me and his daughter.

4. I got 'Sexpert' skill, thinking that with the right amount of foreplay I would be able to seduce Mr. Grisham's daughter without her objections.

5. I tried doing Mr. Grisham's job, thinking that if I did that he would leave the house afterwards giving me a night to have fun with his daughter.

However, none of these work. So what am I supposed to do. If I need a HIGH luck skill, is there some way of improving it? I have 947 Karma points and I thought Karma improves your luck... but obviously not.

What is your character's Charisma?
If it's below 7/8 (can't remember which), then your male character can still force himself upon Miria. This causes all of the family to become aggressive and the wedding will not happen - grisham will try to kill you instead. However, if you choose the following options, and have a fairly high speech skill and 8+ Charisma then she will be putty in your hands:

Ask her about herself

Say you've never met anyone as intersting as her

Say "this is all going too far, can't we just talk?"

She'll be so turned on at your coyness that she'll do you right there and then. Daddy will burst in afterwards and you have to marry her (unless you have a high speech, in which case tell him that you're a doctor giving her an internal examination, and just removed your clothes because of hygiene)

And for heavens sake do place your inventory in that bookshelf before you get it going with her. The shock if your inventory is full of stuff and then after the black screen you have to pick the stuff from the floor one by one... I made that mistake the first time there.

Also, if you don't like your marriage, you can divorce, although i haven't done that myself, but so I've heard. I think you can do it in New Reno..

but I've never heard that you can pimp your wife in FO2....

Yeah, you need to see Father Tully.

Note that once divorced you can't remary.

Gay marriages are worth trying, just for the fun of it.

The closest thing to pimping is to have your wife warm the porn actors up in New Reno... I think you get five bucks for it. :twisted:

Has anyone tried pimping her out to that guy in The Hole, or maybe even Metzer or T-Ray for that matter?

Nah, there's a bald guy in 'The Hole' who will give you two hundred caps for a chance to sleep with your wife. You can sell her off as a slave at either 'The Den' or 'Vault City'. She can become a fluffer or a porn star in New Reno if you don't get Father Tully to divorce the two of you. Also you apparently pimp her to someone in NCR, but I'm still trying to work out who. My hunch is it's Merk... but I sort of popped a cap in his ass after he sold me a map to the fake Vault 13.

You need 7 CH. I pimped myself as a woman to the guy in the Hole. It should work with the wife. I wonder about lesbian marriages...

Well, I never had any shortage of money playing with a female character. A nice advantage, that.
