DAC turns 5
DAC turns 5
[ -> N/A]
Oops, damn my feeble sieve-like memory... yesterday was a special day for DAC (well, or today... depending on your timezone) - it was our 5th birthday! Let's jump in the time machine and go back... way back... to the first ever post on DAC by none-other than Jay (you youngsters probably won't remember Jay, but he was the guy that originally created this site):
January 13, 1998
Today I started Duck and Cover and only the Area section is up. This is going to be a great page. Bookmark it and come back when it's done!
January 14, 1998
Added the Vault section.
January 15, 1998
Today Duck and Cover got whole new sections added and is coming along great. The forms (contact me) page seems to be working now.
This stupid message board thing wont work. If you know how I can EASILY get a message board, please tell me!
January 16, 1998
Well, I have a place who gives out free message boards! And it works perfectly. Try it out in the 'Talk or Barter' section. I'll be posting messages as 'Jay' if you're wondering. Hmmm... Still working on getting all of DAC online. I'm hoping to go public w/ this sometime next week.
Meeeeemorieeeeeeeeeeesssssss... anyway, thanks for sticking by with DAC, loyal readers - and stay tuned, the future holds nothing but good things (including a new site design which should be up-and-running very soon). Have a drink on us!

this isn`t the first boards i remember but it shows many, like Doyle, that are still around. Caeser that sometimes shows up at NMA, Gunslinger and Shadowman i remember well. But the good thing on this page is the first post that shows up from Rosh:"Moron!" :D And he still hasn`t lost the touch :)

One for Kreegle:
"Yurg from Freelancer has sent word that there's been another update to his weapon list. He says:
Thanking to Maxson, most part of arsenal seem to be recognized. Here is the list of known and recognized firearm types: M60 Machine Gun, Beretta 92f, BOS Minigun, M16, Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, Plasma Pistol, G11, AK-47, M2 Heavy Machine Gun, Gauss Rifle, Hunting Rifle, FN M 249 SAW, Desert Eagle.
Thanks Yurg!
-Kreegle"
And one for everyone:
"Phew... The Adrenaline Vault is reporting the the financial woes Interplay was suffering last year are over with, and now they're back on track again:
The publisher of Baldur’s Gate II is seeing profits again following harsh losses in 1999. For the third quarter ended September 30, the group reported net revenues of 31.6 million USD, a 34 percent increase over net revenues of 23.6 USD million in the same period in 1999. Gross margins for the quarter improved to 49 percent compared with 35 percent. The publisher reported net income of 113,000 USD compared with a net loss of 17 million USD.
Go ahead and breathe a sigh of relief for Interplay (who are the publishers of the Fallout games, by the way).
-Kreegle"
the sigh ended...
And the news that eventually created the cosmic connection that lead me to meet Kreegle and Killian:
"Vault 13 has just set up their new IRC channel at:
irc.enterthegame.com
#vault13
So give it a look if you've got time to chat with some fellow Fallout fans. Thanks JC!
-Kreegle"
Ok enough with the nostalgia let`s get on with the show ;)
