Ghillie Suits

Post by ThorOtheBIG »

I want to make a new form of armor for FOT. A Ghillie Suit. This armor will add sneak skill to your character. But most importantly I want it to make it look like a Ghillie Suit when you wear it. (If you dont know what a Ghillie Suit is it is a uniform that an Army Sniper must make before graduation from Sniper School. It should make the Sniper blend into the evironment). I was wondering if its possible to make brand new armor. Not just change their colors but I would like to add tuffs of grass to the armor. If anyone knows of a tutorial for this or knows how to make this or has a better idea please tell me. I would like to make this for a Sniper mod I am working on. If this works it would kick ass.

If you really, really want to do it, it can be done. I am talking REALLY WANT IT. Because noone has ever done it (well except for the original artists) and it will require lots of very difficult work. Check this thread if you really, really, really want to give it a shot:

Well, that was a lot of reading I dont want to read. But from what you make it sound like it would be a crap load of work. I dont want it that bad so I think Ill have the armor give you skill bonus and perks or something. Thanks

hopefully there will be away.. but you will never be able to get it without putting some work into it..

Most of the guys here (if not all) are doing this on their free time.. so progress will be slow but eventually it might just come together:)

so stay tuned.:)

Combat Armor

Post by PaladinHeart »

That reminds me.. anyone make a combat armor sprite yet? :)

I had considered transferring some of the zerg critters from Starcraft to FOT using the editors a long time ago (before they were released). I wonder if that would be possible now? If I could extract the graphics from Starcraft it seems like it should just be a simple task of putting them all together for a working sprite in FOT.

But I dunno if it would do.. Plus there is the matter of different deaths for different damage types. Although it wouldn't be too hard or even NECESSARY since even the deathclaws only have one death animation for FOT.

No... there is no sprite editor working with characters for FOT yet.

K thanks. I didn't think there was one. I'll just concentrate on making my RPG for now.
