getting gariatric on Fallout

Post by Grey »

I've wandered what happens when the 13 years limit is reached...
I never played more the 3 years game-time. Is there anything legit that can actually make the player spend so much time ? and what happnes when the time is up ?
Anyways I'd be amazed to see that Tandi is still alive after 13 years of looking like a dried up corpse :smashed:

If I recall correctly, the death-screen appeared and game was over when the 13-year time limit was passed. Dunno for sure, it's been a long time since I tried that. I doubt anyone will use more than a year or two finishing the game, but if want to develop your character to lvl 99 or find all special encounters you can add a few years to that.

about the random encounters. my current char has luck 10 and he's about to leave SanFran to the derrik. anyway I haven't encountered a LOT of the special encounters I've had woth less fortunate chars.
with luck 10 i haven't encounter the Tin man, King's Arthur PA knights, the Enterprise, the cafee of broken dreams, ** The Big Stone Thingie **(the gate to vault13 of the past), the talking head and i'm sure i'll remember more...
I was sure that with luck 10 i gonna get every good possible encounter. i was wrong. I have no idea why my random encounters were so poor but it's too late now anyway...

Well, encounters are random...
Just wander around the map and I'm sure you'll find them. You have a bigger chance to find special encounters in certain places on the world map, IIRC. Like the alien blaster merchant north of Modoc.Image

Geez. You must be a moron.
Keeper and guardian are nothing alike.
That'd be like spelling the word spelling as comprehension.
I don't think you can blame that one on spelling.
(Ok, maybe you aren't a moron. Just a little confused.)

Done and done.
(I ought not pester others over their language, since they'll tear my writings apart for error.)

Speaking of geriatric stuff.
Does my age increase as years go by? I'm assuming they do.
I really didn't pay attention during Fallout.
That would make the max age some 48 years old, right?

Red, he said MAX age. That would mean 35 in the starting screen + 13 years of game time = 48 ;)

i've expected something little more unusual happens when the game ends. like a movie of arroyo full of skeletons or something like that. dissapointment.

Nah, sorry, no movie of arroyo dead... Just you (weirdly enough really since you're the only one who should remain alive...)

Anyhoo, about the max age, you can select whatever the heck you want, why do you say 35 specifically?

Hmm... I thought 35 years was max age selectable in character creation.

The Fallout 1 manual says that at 35, you "start to lose that twinkle in your eyes."

I suppose that in the wasteland, the life expectancy has dropped quite a bit and the devs didn't like the idea of 70 year old saviors.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Yet they let Tandy live.

Fallout 2, go figure...
