I need to get some old maps from my other computer but my bargain bin CD-RW isn't picking up the rewritable CD's. Anyone know of a program or whatever it is that I need to operate it? There's a lot of music files and other stuff I want to transfer for modding too so that's why I need to put it on a CD (way too big for diskettes)
I probably also have some maps I won't be able to use that I could submit for that new broken maps section OTB is working on.

Have you thought about trying some cheap recordable cds, rather than fancy rewritable ones? Your CD-RW might find them more acceptable.[TBC]-PaladinHeart wrote:I need to get some old maps from my other computer but my bargain bin CD-RW isn't picking up the rewritable CD's. Writable CD's
Well it probably is just bargain writable CD's. I don't think I have any Rewritable ones, but im not sure. I tried 3 different kinds anyway.
I think its just a problem with the driver because the CD-ROM simply isn't picking up the CDs.

And if you hurry you can be the first to submit a map![TBC]-PaladinHeart wrote:I probably also have some maps I won't be able to use that I could submit for that new broken maps section OTB is working on.
Yes ladies and gentlemen the influx of maps has been...well, something less than a deluge. But that's okay, since I'm not going to update my site until Viktor and I (finally) manage to get his new tactical tutorials x-fered in all of their full-sized glory. (Something which the gods themselves seem opposed to...)

A Google search came up with lots of hits, try this one:
Ok, that one sucked. Try the BTC homepage:

Also check this out:
Most likely, some things have been changed in your system, either software or hardware.
Following listings are to be checked out:
If you installed an anti-virus program recently as a TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident program), you could corrupt the CD-R/RW to which you are writing. A TSR anti-virus program is the No.1 killer because it checks every file written onto the disc. This interruption may last long enough to cause a buffer underrun.
Disable some programs (such as TSRs, terminate-and-stay-resident programs).
Disable your screen saver.
Disable power-management feature.
Defragment your hard drives at least once a week.
Disable e-mail, FAX, modem.
Try a different brand of CD-R/RW.
There are conflicts with old device drivers. REMark out any 16-bit (real mode) device drivers in your CONFIG.SYS file in Windows95/98/NT.
Your OS or pre-mastering software has been damaged for some reasons.?Please reinstall it.
Hardware inside your computer is unstable, e.g., check the fan of the CPU to make sure it is not covered by dust, which would cause the CPU overheated.
After a long period of use, the laser lens inside the CD-RW drive may covered by dust. Clean it with a lens tissue or soft cloth carefully.

CD Rom
I think I should try a cd-writing program first. Anyone know where a simple one is that's free and under one meg?
Also the BTCUSA site'a last drivers were for CD-R drives and the top 3 I couldn't figure out which to pick, and it doesn't give much indication of which one to pick. I'll browse the site a bit more though.
