Roadwar Tactics? *FoT Meets Roadwar 2000*

Post by Snake »

I have no idea how to make mods for Fallout Tactics or even Fallout or Fallout II
But I was thinking the other day that the combat system in Fallout Tactics and Roadwar 2000 and Roadwar Europa was very similar
Post apoc settings, big mission to save the world, looting towns and upgrading vehicles

You created a team and at least one base vehicle
You moved on the workd map much like fallout
You could enter combat and it would zoom in on a strech of road and you could place you trucks/vans/cars/bikes
When you were happy the combat would start and you could make some of your crew jump on enemy vehicles if close enough
As you played the game your crew would gain ranks

My personal tactic was to get a few trucks together and try and get speed and other upgrades
And then when combat was on I would lead foot the trucks and ram the fuck out of the enemys

SO...
Is it possible to make "Roadwar Tactics"?
I thought I'd mention it and see what happens
I'm yet to play JA or Wasteland and other games that used a similar UI for travel and combat

You could POSSIBLY modify the game, weapons, triggers, etc.. such that this could be possible. The vehicles in FOT do take damage from ramming stuff but it isn't very much. I doubt that you could implement your idea to your satisfaction unless you wouldn't mind how fast the vehicle had to ram something to blow it and the object up.

You could have some hidden, non-lootable dynamite on the vehicles and have it explode when they got near each other. Although it would be a bit silly looking for the vehicles to explode every time they came into contact with one another :)

Never heard of Roadwar, but if you are thinking of having vehicle vs vehicle combat then you could only do it in multiplayer, with human players controlling all the vehicles.

Plus you can't upgrade the vehicles in FOT, it would only be your crew that would advance.

So yes it would be feasible to create vehicle orientated maps, but unless you want to play multiplayer then only your team would be driving around.

That possibly could be fixed by mucking about with the Armour Class and Damage Resistances of the vehicle, I tried boosting the tank's defences once, it was so tough grenades, RPGs just bounced off, in fact I over did it quite a bit because the only damage it would take was when it crashed into something, so it might be possible to make vehicles more prone to collision damage. Though you are more likely to damage your own vehicle than the opponents.

Well mulitplayer would suck
At least I got my answer
They were good games though, on c64, Amiga, PC and some other formats
So find them for your fave emulator of choice if you get a chance
