Maybe I'm the biggest FoT -mapping newbie, but...
... I didn't found anywhere answer to my problem. Searched all the tutorials, the readme and even NMA tutorials. Didn't found. And the funny thing is it, that the problem is just basic.
Eh... Sorry for this newbie stuff, what I'ma asking.
Well, the problem is in tiles. I have all the tiles, that's good.
I planned to make just a simple map in beginning, with some buildings.
I made area of sand ( planting the tiles is very hard! ), and then tried to put wall and car somewhere of the area .
The Area started to glow as red... Which usually means, that something is wrong.
Well... With car it worked so, that I scrolled bit mouse wheel. So the object was not in the ground.
I wasn't happy in the result, deleted it, and then tried sandbag. Same thing.
That was n00bish, wasn't?
I have also another question.
How to exactly delete tile? Delete or del doesn't work, and I didn't found key for it... I had to cut the tiles allways :|
That was more n00bish, wasn't?
Please help this little newbie of FoT mapping.

1) when it goes red in that case you've got it placed in the same location as your floor tile, so just go up one unit....the coloured bar on the right hand side of the screen - it should be on 0 for the floor just put it to 1 and place the cart or sandbag or whatever it should look fine
2) i'm not sure, if i make a mistake i just press ctrl z to undo last action
ctrl x is cut

Ctrl Z or Ctrl X to delete something.
The floor tiles can be placed at any height, not just 0. To make laying floor tiles easier, especially when starting a new map press 6 on your number keypad. That'll snap the tiles to the grid, press 1 on the number keypad to unsnap from the grid.

Red Glow
I have been wondering about the Red Glow. If your tiles collide but otherwise it looks and functions fine, is there any problems it could cause? Just wondering because I have had to just keep the red glow in some cases just to make the tiles fit nicely so everything looks good without a big workaround.

Re: Red Glow
They cause lag, it's better not to have any colliding tiles but if you look at the campaign maps you'll see that in most of them have some tiles overlapping. Mainly when invisible tiles have been placed in doorways, especially for the tents.[TBC]-PaladinHeart wrote:I have been wondering about the Red Glow. Tile Placement
Another trick you can use for placing tiles.
Hold shift and left click each floor tile, wall, etc.. That will work with whatever you are doing. Then right click and drag across the area you want to fill in.
Sometimes, well actually MOST of the time, it will not fit right. Use ctrl-x to cut it away. Then use ctrl-v to paste it where needed. With walls you sometimes have two layers after doing this. Just cut them, paste one in the correct position. Then cut the rest away and use somewhere else or just keep it cut.
If you do this around walls, objects, etc.. You may have to cut away tiles that intersect with others you have placed. It may cause problems when a rock, tree, etc.. keeps getting cut along with your sandbags or such.

The best thing for a newb to do when working with placing tiles in the level editor is to turn on the bounding edges. Check out this screen:
Editor Screenie
You can find this option under the "View" menu. It makes it a little easier to line things up. You may also want to check out Goldenbeast's tutorial which will show the correct way to place tiles.
