Yet another Nifty Trick

I've discovered a neat way to make windows with shutter-like capabilities:

1) Place a half-size wall tile

2) Place a full-size wall tile on either side of the half-size wall tile.

3) Place a Village Fence door entity (entities/doors/village/) in the "hole" between the two full-size walls and above the half-size wall.

An actor (who's tall enough to reach it) can open/close the "door" like normal, but because of the "door"'s position, it looks like a shutter. Pretty spiffy, I say. Instead of having either a normal window or a blocked window, one can have a window that can be seen/shot through while the "door" is open and cannot be seen/shot through when the "door" is closed.

I was going to save posting this little gem for when I finish Revenge2, but I'm such a nice guy, I decided to share it with my fellow mappers. Yer welcome! Image

And hey, if Red ever gets around to putting in sprite editing/making capabilites into his lovely viewer, someone with the artistic talent could make a new door entity that actually looks like a shutter! (Consider that sentence me bugging you about the editor, Red Image

Better use..

Better yet, have something similar to what you mentioned but automatically open when the player walks by, allowing about 10 enemies to see and shoot the player.

You're saying im obsessed with traps? What's your point? :-)

You can also use laser doors to squish the player in a seemingly undangerous area...
