i played it and it's total crap! woohoo!
seriously. sound suxors. weapons suxors. character animation suxors
it just sounds like you're shooting toyguns. the weapons are weird, not very inspiring, and the graphics are below average. when you're used to playing ut2003 this is a big step back.
the cool thing though is that you can kick around just about everything that lies about in the scenery. that's makes the levels very lively. rats running around, bottles lying about that sort of stuff.
the gameplay feels very much like counterstrike. but it lacks the cool weapons. still much to be improved here if they're aiming for a cool multiplayer experience
i'll now go back to playing raven shield multiplayer demo. hardcore!

OK, I just played the demo and it isn't bad. I had pretty low expectations, but I feel that way for just about everything.
The guns are fine. In fact, they look and sound exactly like the real thing. Don't know where you come off with this toygun nonsense. Try playing in simulation mode. One or 2 shots from just about any weapon kills a guy.
Graphics are good. They're kinda bland and brownish, but it's post apocalyptic and SUPPOSED to look that way.
Maps are very nice and detailed. Lots of junk everywhere to kick around. The barrels are cool. Perhaps a little too light.
Sound is good. If anything, there isn't enough of it. The game is pretty quiet until you run into glass, cans, and other stuff or get in a shoot out. But it all sounds authentic.
Character animations need work. That's really the only gripe I have with the demo. They aren't bad, but they certainly aren't the best.
Overall, the game run perfectly for me at resolutions at or above 1024x768 and looks good. No choppiness anywhere. People at the forums are going nuts over garbage framerate, and I honestly have no clue where this can be coming from if their computers beat the system requirements.
There aren't any candy colors like everyone is so used to in UT2k3 and Unreal 2. This is a very different game.

i agree with you that this is supposed to be a different game from the candy colors of ut2k3. but it's all a bit half half if you ask me. the movement isn't very realistic if you're used to games like raven shield.
imo they should've gone for realistic gameplay or really over the top gameplay like quake or ut. it's just that it's too slow to really keep me entertained and too fast to strive for any realism.
and i still think the guns sound like toyguns. try playing raven shield. now that sounds good.

Was there a singleplayer demo and I completely missed it, or what?
Oh, and bear in mind it's merely a demo. Franted, most demoes of good full games are good, but...

Like the Fallout demo. Maybe I like it a lot because of nostalgia, but oh well.Max-Violence wrote:Was there a singleplayer demo and I completely missed it, or what?

The game looks very good, the setting feels okay. The action is good, and the graphics are acceptable. It is worth the download, and some of your time.
I think the game plays better while I'm listening to Slayer, but that's me.
Endure. In enduring, grow strong.

I can't recommend anybody to download the demo until they release a serious patch for it. If they don't patch it before the game is in stores next week, then don't waste your time.
I'm starting to think they released the wrong demo. A debug build of it or something. There's all this extra stuff and mysterious ini files which make no sense.

bah. played it, and i think it sucks all out
it looks like shit for having such high system req's
bad things i found when playing for aprx 30 min:
guns shoot too slow (pistols, and assault rifle)
way too hard to see anything without gamma jacked up a ton
(for me at least--) the main menu was set at 1024x800, but it was only showing the 800x600 upper corner, very anoying.
pistols do like 0 damage.
sniper rifle doesnt have a crosshair out of scope until you scope, and unscope (try it)
you seem to spawn from the same spot every time.
grenades throw really wierd.
assault rifle fires wierdly...
and some other things that i dont remember
one good thing was that the sniper rifle could kill in 1 hit, because it would blow off a limb and cause death.

This was one of the more rediculas things I noticed, I killed this one guy (same guy) like 4-5 times just because of this, I finally moved because I didn't want to be called a spawn camper but if I had stayed there my kills would have gone through the roof.Strapon2 wrote:you seem to spawn from the same spot every time.
