I must say that i voted on the 3rd field...
I just cant make a REALLY 3V1L char, neither can i make a really RIGHTEOUS char. For example (or examples ;) )

I DID:
  • ...Join the thieves ring in the Hub
...Break into and loot the Vault 13 weapon storage
...Steal that motivator thingy from Rhombus
...Steal some ammo from the Hub guards
...Help the Blades instead of the Regulators
...Plant the bug in Gizmos office
..."Aquire" some medical supplies from the doc in Shady Sands
..."Stumble" over Ian's SMG in Shady Sands
I DID NOT:
  • ...Help the Maltese Falcon guys kill the Sherrif
    ...Help Gizmo kill Killian
    ...Kill Ghouls in Necropolis
...Kill the bartender in the Hole
    ...Do something REAL 3V1L (Killing towns,Helping Gangsters,etc)
Now i have confessed! I cant make anything else than NEUTRAL THIEVES!

I voted for the paladin bollucks
But I play similar to Mad Max and Snake Plisken
Characters who are smart and can handle guns and stuff
I hardly ever upgrade thief or sneak that much

Fallout is a game of opportunity, survival and chance mostly - not good or bad. So I voted #3.

Thief, definately.

Though I am trying other types of characters. Not happy with unarmed, or melee. Thought about trying a big guns character. But I usually stick with a thief.

What if my character has no concept of good or evil?
He does what it takes to survive. Everything in self-interest.
Good is what helps my character survive.
Evil is what kills my character.

I play different character types & set myself a goal for the came before I start. They are all rewarding in their own right but my favorite type is the agile & inteligent sniper/thief. It's a good idea to keep your things under lock & key when he's around.

I tend to make non-stereotypical, non-powergamed characters - for example, in FO2 I first played a shaman with low AG and Science, Doctor, and Gambling for fun. It was quite fun, especially without having to concentrate on combat, and not that hard really with NPCs around to defend you.

Gotta love my Mad Max character.

Fun to beat the game with nothing but a shot gun, Dogmeat and a leather jacket.

My usual character is a sniper diplomat. She usually plays both ends against the middle, walking a fine line between factions, exploiting each to the best of her abilities.

My legendary speech, science & some fighting skill - combo works usually just fine. It helps me through all troubles I encounter in the Wasteland + keeps my paladin armor shiny 'n clean :)
