Duck and Cover

.after I put my recruits in the character.txt file, when I try to play FOT I get a bunch of error messages, so Im guessing it had something to do with editing the character.txt file, heres a sample of what I put into the character.txt... if you see anything wrong please tell me.

name_draul = {Draul}
desc_draul= {Draul was forced to join the Brotherhoods most elite force,the Black Daggers, when his Reaver camp was liberated by the Brotherhood.Like most Reavers his weapon of choice are energy weapons}

what am I doing wrong?? errr I wanted was my own squadies and not the pathetic pieces of shit that are in the default recruit pool.Is that so much to ask??


The error message im geting is... C:\preuni\dev\bos\common\language\.cpp(120): *fatal error*: Failed to parse: game/characters.txt

I did *exactly* what the tutorials told me to do...

2 hours later I still cannot fix the problem.. can someone please tell me what Im doing wrong? Im fed up with this shit I may as well not even play the game.

Ok, I give up. What was the problem??

The problem was undoubtedly that he used a parenthesis instead of a brace, or he left a brace of somewhere.

I remember when this happened to me the first time. It took me about an hour to figure it out and I'm surprised my neighbors didn't call the cops on me thinking there was some sort of "domestic dispute".

Did you over-write your custom version of your characters.txt in the process?

Where did you have your characters.txt at?

I had my characters.txt in the locale\game folder. But thats all taken care of now. But theres a new problem but Im not that frustrated anymore, but its still annoying. My recruits level up like normal recruits BUT they dont get stat points when they level
