Freedom: Soldiers of Liberty IGN Preview

Post by Mad Max RW »

[ -> N/A]

I completely forgot about this game so here’s a quick recap. Freedom: Soldiers of Liberty (formerly Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island) takes place in an alternate history where the Soviet Union conquers most of the world and forces the United States between a rock and a hard place. In Freedom you and a bunch of people fight back a Soviet invasion on New York. IGN explains the gameplay:

”It's a simple game. Rainbow Six, this is not. Soldiers of Liberty is about action and on your feet, seat-of-your-pants strategy. It's third-person, and while players will command Joe Schmo the plumbing military leader and order about a dozen comrades to their deaths, it's always played from the back of the hero (no character jumping here). Surprisingly, the console versions all play out very intuitively and benefit most from the extra strategy and squad-based elements built into the game.”

The IGN preview has a few screenshots displaying a shoot-out with those crazy Ruskies.

Remember when they was a turn based strategy game? When Killian first posted about it, it sounded pretty neat.. Now it sounds like utter shit.

I vaguely remember when it was first posted. Turn based, huh? What a bummer.

It doesn't look too bad, the story could use a little fine tuning I think but they've got some nifty ideas and I'm sure it'll be a hell of a lot better of a third person shooter than FOenforcer. IO interactive... decent development house.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

Well... I'm just sick and tired of all these games released on PC that look shit, just because "we had to make it easily convertable to consoles" or "it's a rip-off from our X-CastStation IV version, cry us a river"...
