Problems with Fallout 1 and 2

I recently re-installed both on my Windows XP Pro and noticed that the graphics are a bit off. They seem a bit darker and have less colours. It could be that the last time I played 'em I still had Windows ME so it would have something to do with XP and it's not playing old games correctly thing. Any suggestions what to do?

Well there is a brightness slider (I think) in the options menu.

Well, there is one but the darkness wasn't the real problem. It was the lack of colours.

Fallout in black & white... sounds cool, very retro. Maybe after adding too much brightness you just have this funny impression of lack of colours, I don't know what could help.

I't s not related to XP.
Either you update drivers, change video cards or changed your screen birghtness/contrast/heat.

This EXACTLY what is happening to me with XP. People think I'm crazy, but my fallout 1 and 2 screens are nothing like the quality of Fallout 1 and 2 screenshots that are posted around the net at reviews sites, etc.
I tried tweaking everything, but nothing works. What kind of setup are you running?

See my post in the Fallout 2 forums for an answer (best I could find) to this problem.
