Bloody Mess explosions?

I was playing through Fallout with bloody mess, and Victor (one of the Skullz gangers) randomly exploded without reason after I had talked to him. I reloaded and tried this again, with the same result.
What's the reason behind this? Is it the Bloody Mess trait or something else entirely? Maybe I'm just stupid, but I've never heard of anything like this before.

It's related to your intelligence. If you have <4 then all you can reply to him is "huh huh" and then he dies...

He's supposed to die out laughing.

So indeed, you're just stupid :)

ahhkay. :D
indeed, I was playing a 2 IN Bloody Mess character. Do you need both to get that?
are there any other stupid deaths like this (besides shooting the Overseer at the end if you have bloody mess)?

It sounds like you only need a low INT to do it. Hmm, I have a stupid char right around Junktown, I'll have to try it when I get home.

As far as other silly deaths go, the only other one I can think of is in FO2, where a female character can kill the New Reno chop shop guy (T-Ray? T-something, anyway) by sleeping with him too many times.

Well, excluding various poisonings in Fallout2, the only ones you can kill just by TALKING would be Algernon.

Well, that I know of anyhow, since I'm no omniscient Fallout buff, just a pretty knowledable one...

And yes it's the only requirement I decompiled it using Noids decompiler - though again, I could have missed stuff...

What about the Bridge Keeper?

What *about* the bridge keeper?

He's an easter egg based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

In the movie, if you answer a question wrong or don't know the answer, you are thrown into the Gorge of Eternal Peril. In the movie, the Bridgekeeper asks King Arthur the average wingspeed of an unladen swallow.

KA: "What do you mean? An African or a European swallow?"
BK: "Bwah! I don't know that!"

*Bridgekeeper is tossed into the Gorge of Eternal Peril*

You don't kill him by talking to him; you kill him by making him not know the answer to his own question.

Bridge Keeper doesn't count. It's an easter egg, and a lame one at that.

Actually he's not supposed to explode, he's supposed to fall into the trench... Something a bit too complicated to animate in the FO engine so they made him explode... Which makes one wonder how his robes survivde at all...

Maybe we should call them "magic robes +9" while at it too? This egg, as fun as it was, gave a lame item IMHO. I can deal with a weirdo impersonating a Monthy Python part, but one that happens to give such a good item out of context seems terribly lame.

Long story short, indeed, I had forgotten about him :P

Well, you can convince The Master to commit suicide...

I'll have to try that T-Ray thingy next time, didn't know that.

It's not bloody mess that does it, it's your karma. I always play with a bloody mess character, whether or not I'm evil (because I don't particularly like the other traits sometimes ;) ), and I've only ever gotten the kill the overseer thing once.
