I'll laugh my ass off when they announce Van Buren as anything else but Fallout 3. Everyone at the Interplay forum convinced themselves that's what it is and are already making demands.

And even if Van Buren is Fallout 3, the chances of ever seeing it on store shelves aren't much better.

Whether the rumors are true or not, J.E.´s Van Buren "announcement" sure did a great job at calming all the anti-FOBOS voices and washing away the general negativity on the IPlay boards.
Even the current DaC poll shows that almost 40 percent of the people don´t care about FOBOS´ crappieness anymore.

And I thought IPlay´s marketing guys were stupid.

If Van Buren ends up being FO3 i'll be estatic but if it's not I won't be too disappointed

I too was puzzled by the poll. Perticularly since there wasn't a news post about it on the front page. Oh well...

If its true, I hope its done right. Something I have more then a few doubts about. Then again MCA seems like an OK guy that knows and loves Fallout. Spending a lot of extra time on the bible etc.

The only thing JE talked about was guns and other bullshit statistics. They've been doing that for years.

OK, so wait a minute. What the bloody, bloody hell is going on? I've only been away 2 days.

Never mind the reasons behind it, where's this Van Buren name come from and why is everyone on the Interplay forums equating it with FO3 all of a sudden?

I slap the name into Google and all I get is stuff about the 8th President of the US - one Martin Van Buren.

Maybe I´m bullshitting now since I´m not really that deep into the whole matter, but I really believe that FO3 is in production, or at least, that J.E. believes it is.

What I think is that Jefferson got officially canned, which pissed J.E. off big time. So he went bezerk in some random Interplay office and to calm him down and prevent him from quitting, the suits gave their Okay to FO3. I mean, allowing some people to think about a concept they had in the back of their heads for years isn´t a big commitment. So many things can happen till a full steam production would start, so many licences could scream for their game conversion first. So FO3 is just an attempt to keep the angry Black Islanders calm.

But that´s really just my shallow theory. As I said, I never really bothered to get into the "Behind the Scenes" stuff.

Van Buren has been rumoured to be the codename for FO3 for maybe years now. And in J.E. Sawyer´s great return thread he mentioned that it´s possible that Van Buren gets announced before Jefferson.
He also talked about guns in SPECIAL alot, which is supposed to be another clue.

Kerfuffles like this have been made before. I'm waiting for solid proof. Seriously, despite what the people say, a cash-cow is more likely - whatever happened to IPLY going bankrupt? Unless they think their 'secret plan' of Fallout Enforcer will do them a lot of good.

It certainly is an 'interestink' development, if there is anything in it.

What's got me puzzled is how they plan to make another Fallout game when so many of the original Interplay Fallout crew have moved to Troika. Or just plain buggered off. I think some serious stylistic changes in Van Winkle are a dead cert if there are wheels turning there at all.

chances are this is a rumour started to make FOBOS more palettable for the hardcore fans to swallow

or maybe this is what "suddenly" made elara switch sides on FOBOS

If and when a Fallout 3 will be announced some changes will probably occure to this forum, but it isn't right now.

i think all the views of the DACers have been written here about van bueren, and in about 200 other posts scattered all over DAC and every other FO forum, nothing solid has been said about it so speculating is dumb until we have some solid facts, itll just make the fall of hearing that van bueren isnt FO3 so much harder for everyone

Sorry dan, I didn't realise the FO3 forum NEEDED as much moderation as you claim it needs, I didn't do a lot of moderating before because things seemed to control itself, and it still seems to be doing just that.

Its just if van beuren ends up not being fallout 3 there are going to be a whole lot of unhappy FO campers, and I don't want to be the one contributing to perpetuating their false FO3 jimboree hopes.
