What event in Fallout moved you the most?

For me...
The opening cutscene...all seemed normal until the soldier blew the brains out of the prisoner. I was 11 years old, and I remember sitting there, mouth agape, wondering what awesome game I had stumbled upon.
When the camera view drew back to show the ruined city, I was hooked.

The ending of Fallout 1 is something I'll always remember. That was the last thing I'd expect, brilliant and it really made you feel bad.
I was 14 when I started playing Fallout, guess I was pretty old.

I was 12 when I first played Fallout (I think?) and the two most memorable events were the opening cutscene (witty but dark), which blew me away, and then later talking to Morpheus and the Master. Seeing the Master was really quite a surprise, and he was intimidating with his frightening and powerful appearance.
Everything about first playing the original Fallout brings tears to my eyes. What a classic, unforgettable plot.

My experience was even sadder because I had a good char and he simply walked away, betrayed and alone... unforgettable.

I guess that would be 1997 and 1998 respectively. Really long time ago. Personally I came across Fallout pretty late, in 1999, but I had the advantage of being able to get the 2nd part instantly after finishing Fo1. 8)

I remember being pissed off from that cutscene, because I was Canadian

"Dogmeat, Nooooooo!"
They killed my dog at the watershed, the bastards. First playthrough I didn't reload unless *I* was killed. Made for a lot of dead NPC's & one town I couldnt go back to for shooting some fool whom no matter how long I waited, couldn't get him to move out of the doorway.

I walked south the first time I played, instead of east to shady sands/vault 15. I got a random encounter with about 6 rats and tried to fight them off with my knife because I wanted to save my bullets and then I got killed. I was hooked.

I love all these memories
Another cool memory I had was convincing my friend that Fallout was violent and dark. As if the intro wasn't enough...
After loading up a char that was decked out with Hardened Powered Armour, Miniguns and Flamethrowers, I cut loose in Shady Sands. Every goddamned NPC had the ribs exposed, their heads blown off, or reduced to ash.
My friend subsequently borrowed Fallout for 5 months. He even got to love the story.

I was hooked on the opening cut-scene, like so many of us. I *still* bring that up with my brother (the one who introduced me to Fallout). We'll just be sitting around and all of the sudden one of us will make some remark about dedicated boys keeping the peace in Canada. I remember it in full clarity, like I just watched it yesterday.

Hard to say, the opening intro seemed kinda dull at first. When I the first time entered the BOS bunker, I was amazed. Several levels full of hi-tech gadgets and guards in power armor was definitely a contrast to the dusty and primitive world outside.
In Fallout 2, the intro when you left towards the Enclave oil rig. Wandering around the oil rig among non-suspecting Enclave troopers was an experience itself.

I got FO1 right when FO2 came out. The exact same day. I had heard of FO1 and then of FO2 coming so I figured I'd wait for the 2 to come out and get a better price.
And indeed I did, it was 30$ instead of 50$ two weeks before - quite stupid of my supplyer's now that I think about it since it's obvious that people might come back to get the original, or why not, get both at the same time... Got FO2 right when I was done with FO1. Great times. Sadly though, I don't remember them a whole lot. It's just a big jumble of of joyful memories.

In FO2 my most memorable experience was probably (I know I'll be getting flamed for this shit
) the Bridgekeeper. I've always been such a huuuge Monty Python fan, and when I played I didn't know that the Bridgekeeper would be there, as I hadn't read too much in the community at the time. Needless say when I finally talked to him, I was laughing so hard I had to stop playing for a few minutes.

Yeah, the Bridgekeeper was fun for the first time. But he gets really boring really fast as he's the most frequent random encounter (at least it seems so, I had him in every game). Perhaps someone could make a patch to make Luck work with random encounters like in Fo1 (the good ones only for luck>8 or something). It sucks that you can get all of them even with luck of 4.

My most prominent fallout memory, was when i started my first game in fallout 1 - and headed due west. Heh... I had a luck 10 char, and on my way to the military base (which i didn't even know existed yet) I found the truck special encounter with 10,000 bottle caps, and the alien blaster.
Too bad i never made it out of there... I got to the base, and got massively killed... didn't bother saving either because i didn't know that anything really spectacular had happened at that point
Good times, heh.

My list:
1) When I met MASTER. Such an awesome character and even better ending boss!
2) When I met FRANK HORRIGAN. Another awesome character.
3) Whenever my actions seem to have effected the life of a whole town/city. Junktown, NCR and New Reno for example.

Heh, that actually reminds me of my first game... Very first one. I played and travelled ot v15, had 2 encounters:
1) Gozilla's foot = Stealthboy
2) Flying saucer = Alien Blaster.
Course this was my very first game... I went up to v15, got killed and didn't save!!
