corrupt critter.dat

well, im having problems installing fallout 2, if i try to do anything other than the minimum installation, it doesn't work, i just get a "Please Stand By" window, then it goes back to windows

it loads however when i try a minimum, i didn't try to see if i could play. i then went onto the cd, to copy over the sounds, critter.dat and master.dat myself, but it gave me an error, the critter.dat is corrupt on the cd, the cd is old, i was given it by a friend since he never plays it anymore, its got some scratches, so im reckoning its ruined.

now, im hoping i could still get it to work if i get a copy of the critters.dat somewhere, as i managed to copy over everything else, (dont know if these work either :/)

is there anyway i can get the critter.dat by itself? or will i have to buy a new copy of fallout 2?

anyone else had similar problems?

is there a bundle of Fallout 1, 2 and Fallout Tactics out in the UK?

Fallout Radioactive, costs 25 quid, if you can find a copy that is. Fallout and Fallout 2 though are available for a fiver each.
