Really fast map moving

Ok guys so I just installed Fallout 2 onto XP and i did do a little character editing (like added 1 to S, I, A, etc.) but nothing else. I get out of Arroyo only to find i move obsurdly fast and without conflict around the map. I ran down to San Fransisco in about 2 seconds without a single encounter. I installed the offical patch before playing, so im baffled as to what it was that caused this. Any ideas?

Heh, my guess would be the character editing. Have you tried to move around the worldmap with an unedited character?

Sounds like a Pathfinder perk taken a few dozen times...

Or your computer is a mean killing machine. Is it uber-hi-end :?

Computer horsepower has nothing to do with it since the game is synched.

Hahah, yeah... they'd probably figured that we were going to have 2GHz processors in the future (aka now).
Unlike Ultima {x}... ever try to play U7 with no slow-down proggie? I've actually finished it like that. I think I ate every bit of food in the whole world, and then bought some more.

That is simply not true. I've been playing Fo2 on P166 and then P III 450 and there's a HUGE difference in the speed on the map. It gets even faster on better computers. And that's a fact. 8)

It does get smoother, yes. I remember jumping 'twixt a P120 and P3 866, and I was delighted at the upshift in the world map's movement speed. But not on the scale we're talking about here. To SF in 2 seconds because you've got a fast CPU? Yeah, you've probably got a 10GHz PC, then.

On slower computers where 60fps isn't reached it'll go slower, but once you top it it can't go any faster. I've run this game on a 486dx33 to a p3-600...

It's still to a Ghz machine but I sure as hell top the engine's possible limits.

Yup, that's right. Like I said earlier it would have to be alien technology to be capable of such a thing.
