Whats wrong with the mapper?

I´m getting really tired of this... :x
It´s like this: I start up the mapper i sits in a couple of hours making my map and then i save my map and close the program ( i was hungry).
Later i went up to continue my creative work and when i start the mapper, the screen goes black and a window with the following message pops up:

wmAreaInit:: Error Loading Cities!

What was the meaning of this? :?

So i tried to start the mapper up a couiple of times but with the same result. I restarted my computer but still no mapper!
I uni-installed the mapper and re-installed it again and it worked.
Here comes the BUT:

I used it once and the next time i was going to continue on the map the message popped up again!

And this time the re-installing doesn´t work. I´ve did it about 15 times... :(

Please help me... I´m dying out here!!!! Didn´t even get a chance to fix the stairs and the ladders on my map....grrrrr....

Try reinstall Fallout2.
Mapper uses files from Fallout2\data folder.

alright.. here we go!

Reinstalled Fallout and all. Tried it out! Yes! It worked! But after I finished my map it doesn´t....
So now i know that: On my greatly disturbed computer, i can use the mapper before i use Fallout!

I think it´stime to format my little can of computer...

Doesn't FO2 have a maximum limit to the number of cities it can have? Did you try to make a brand new city? Do you have the max city patch? Not sure if this is your problem, but it's probably worth the 10 minutes to check before you nuke your system.

This discussion happened about a year ago. I'd say that his computer is quite thoroughly nuked by now.

Well now, that's what you get for forgetting that you're reading search results. D'oh.

I had the exact same problem. What causes it is the mapper naving a different number of cities than is hardcoded.

To fix the problem, install this patch on the mapper:
