There is a facility in Jamaica known as Tranquility Bay that will reprogram your troublesome teenage son or daughter into a lobotomized slug for a mere $40,000.

Rich Americans that are too lazy to whip some discipline into their children send their 11-18 year old offspring to this place and have them go through a series of psychological brainwashing sessions and are not released until the kid understands why they are there and if they agree that they are supposed to be there and that they would have died without the help of Tranquility.

You are basically kidnapped and shipped off to Jamaica. They are given 49% custody rights over you and you are held for an indefinite amount of time against your will.

Oh, but it can't be so bad, can it? It can. It's worse than any prison. You get no games to play, no free time, no alone time, you have no choice in what you see, in what you hear, even in what you feel and think. Guards preside over you 24/7. Try and pull something and you'll be beaten.

This is extremely offensive to me. I just can't find a single good point about this program to make it okay.

When most children first arrive they find it difficult to believe that they have no alternative but to submit. In shock, frightened and angry, many simply refuse to obey. This is when they discover the alternative. Guards take them (if necessary by force) to a small bare room and make them (again by force if necessary) lie flat on their face, arms by their sides, on the tiled floor. Watched by a guard, they must remain lying face down, forbidden to speak or move a muscle except for 10 minutes every hour, when they may sit up and stretch before resuming the position. Modest meals are brought to them, and at night they sleep on the floor of the corridor outside under electric light and the gaze of a guard. At dawn they resume the position.

One girl did this for 16 months simply because she refused to comply.

The guy that runs the whole thing is a high school drop-out that worked in a gas station. He has no college degree in child development but rather experience as a correctional guard in a children's mental hospital.

I really suggest reading the entire article. It's just so incredibly offensive and atrocious to be ignored.

Also, I've found various testimonies in a lawsuit by former students from the facility. They go in depth about how the place operates.

One part of the testimony they described how they dried their clothes on a line outside right outside the grate where raw sewage came out of. The clothes would always fall off the line, right into the sewege, and the line would frequently burst and spew the sewage all over their clothes.

There was one guy while I was in there, who was urinating in the mop bucket all day and later that night after fitness time he mopped the floor with it and the next day we went in there and had to lay down in the floor again; they didn't really care.

THE WITNESS: When you get a category II you get 50 demerits and you go to the study hall. You sit there pretty much the whole day and have to write a 5,000 word essay about what you did, which is usually something small and insignificant and could be wrapped up in about 10 words, but by the end ouf that you will have bruises on your fingers from pressing the pen; your whole arm will hurt; you will pretty much be numb; you can't...It's...It's not an easy thing to do.

MS. NECESSARY: Did you get a category II offense while you were in the program?

THE WITNESS: I got 74, I believe.

MS. NECESSARY: 74 5,000 word essays?

Yeah I read an article on this place from Reuters I belive it was. It's pretty fucking sick. It's one of those stories that when you read it the word "bullshit" comes to mind, a lot, but then you remember it's from a credible news organization (even if they do lean left). I keep asking,"When are you going to get to the ovens and where's the munitions factory?" It's a modern day concentration camp where rich folks send their kids when they back-talked to the maid one too many times. One of my favorite parts is the rule that says they don't get to masturbate and if there's any evidence of masturbating you get punished. That's right, we're going to fix your kid by denying him Nature's saftey valve. Instead of letting him beat his meat when he gets frustrated we're going to make him sit on a cold tile floor. Meanwhile the prick running the joint is diddling his doink watching "security" tapes of the girl's showers, or possibly the boys, he is running a concentration camp afterall.

I'd like to know why none of the prisoners have tried to kill their way out? Kill a couple guards, get some other inmates in on it and take it over. Anyone working there and not attempting to free them gets their legs broken by an angry mod. Where are those bleeding heart sissies when you need them? Probably out pissing their pants over tuna instead of worring about human fucking beings.

That's pretty much a complete suppression of all of your natural instincts.

Personally I would try and do anything I could to incite rebellion, even if it meant severe punishment.

But the thing is that they are rewarded "points" if they rat out fellow students for "bad" behavior.

The system perpetuates itself.

Category IV offenses include having sandals in your room at night while you're sleeping, or LOOKING OUT A WINDOW because that qualifies as a run plan.

Category V is actually running away or self-inflicting yourself in some way; nail biting is considered self-infliction; cracking knuckles is considered self-infliction; picking at scabs is considered self-infliction.

Okay. One time when I was there, I think it was about May, I believe, a girl jumped off the roof of the girl's facility and killed herself and the staff, they went to the male's line area to pull towels off the line to go pick her up and put her in Mr. Kay's car and one of them was mine and soon afterwards there were some upper-levels passing out towels that the staff had used and one of them is mine and I had about...I had a spot of blood about, somewhere about the size of a dinner plate on my towel; there was some of her hair on it. The used it to pick her head up; I'm pretty sure. I had to dry off with that towel for about three weeks before something was done about it.

They gave him a clean towel after he wrote his parents about it.

It'd be hard to escape as you're watched all the time. Plus the only way you can get out is by ratting out other students.

First of all I'd try to prevent going there, and I'm sure if you faked catatonia they'd ship you back, though probably into a mental home.

I read about a similar "summer camp" in Arizona where some kid died because they wouldn't feed him or give him water on this forced march, and he was a diabetic. If I had been sent to one of those things when I was younger, I probably wouldn't have made it out alive either. I would've done everything I could to fuck with that nazi-esque system, and the guards probably would've smacked the shit out of me every five minutes. No way could I play dumb for assholes like that. But that's America. Retards breed with morons and freak out because they're too stupid to raise their ignorant little bastards. The south is the worst. It sucks to have so little faith in my own country, but weakness is apparent in every system we have. Tax-cuts for the rich shifting the burden onto the backs of middle class, fighting wars in the name of oil and Christianity makes me sick. I'm gonna move to Canada some day.

Yeah, but its not in america... even still, I'll bet this violates the Geneva Convention. I hope special forces get sent in, and all the parents who sent their kids their get gassed or shot. If there is any justice, it will be their victim children pulling the trigger.

There's the same shit in America some even worse. The ones I know of are in Utah and palm springs, has pretty much everything said in the article except your kept in glass type rooms so the guards can see everything your doing. They have a whole point system too, like during lunch and you look at the opposite sex on the other side of the room you'll get marked down on points. This aint bullshit either.

It's child abuse, pure and simple. Rather than present positive values in a respectful manner, they scare their children into behaving. It's the same system organized religion was founded on. Rather than put any effort into it, they say "if your naughty, you're gonna burn!" So they react out of fear, rather than actually realizing the benefits of being a good person, or the consequnces of being a negative person. It's just that sort of lazy half assed system that keeps America ignorant.

Honestly I think a facility like that would best benefit some of the adolescent psychos I've seen in my day, however the price is far out of reach. Most rich kids really aren't evil. None of the kids I've seen. Mostly undisciplined, they usually take everything for granted and are quite spoiled. Save for a few whose parents were quite hard on them. However. I -can- see a place serving to benefit kids who are on a path to either being killed or going to jail at an early age... therefore being nothing more than a target for a rousing game of ass-darts by the senior inmates.

A place like this is not a place to send your recalcitrant spoiled-brat son or daughter.
