Tech Help: "Couldn't find/load text fonts"

Post by Sudy Nym »

Good day-

Basically, I lent my copy of Fallout 2 to a friend nearly a year ago, and I haven't seen him since. ;P I should track him down.

Anyway, it occurred to me that I still have an installation of Fallout 2 from a very long time ago in an archived back up from my old computer. Now, I don't expect that I'll be able to get it to work- but in the off chance that the error mentioned in the subject line is the only thing keeping me from playing FO2, I'd be very happy.

So, have any of you experienced this before, or know of a solution? When I try to start the .exe, I get the error message "Couldn't find/load text fonts". Sounds simple- the trouble is, I don't know where I'd find these fonts or where I'd put them. I did the huge install originally, so I wouldn't think that it's anything I need the CD for.

Just curious. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. I don't really expect to be able to play the game from this ancient installation, but I thought I might as well give it a shot.

Thanks!

The answer to your problem, unfortently, lies on the CD. For some reason Fallout does install all the files it should, like music etc. and in this case, fonts.

You'd need to get the CD, and then either re-install it, or go through the CD's files looking for the font folder, and copy them to the Fallout2 direc. Don't ask me where, as I can't remember, my Fo2 CD melted.
