Mad Max 4 Is NOT Dead

Post by Mad Max RW »

<html><body><P>I spotted some good news on <I>Mad Max 4: Fury Road</I> after these last few months of silence. <A HREF=http://www.moviehole.net target=_blank>Moviehole</A> explains:</P><blockquote><em>There’s been a bit of talk that “Fury Road – aka “Mad Max 4 – has gone off the rails, and been pushed back a bit. Not so it seems. One of my most reliable inside scoopers has provided proof that the film is indeed underway, with casting and costume departments set up. Surprisingly, right here in Australia. And the proof? <A HREF=http://www.moviehole.net/img/furyroad.jpg target=_blank>This sign</A>. straight from the door of the Costume Department, which turned up in the mail. Enjoy!</em></blockquote><P>Ha. There’s your first shot from the movie.</P><blockquote><center><A HREF=http://www.moviehole.net/img/furyroad.jpg target=_blank><img src=/madmaxrw/furyroad2.jpg></A></center></blockquote></body></html>

What the fuck? I could make a sign like that, take a picture and post it on the internet.

That is not proof, this is just a stupid-ass rumor.

Yeah, that's the first thought that comes to mind. But their "reliable inside scoopers" are actually pretty reliable, and several other sources close to George Miller and Fury Road Productions (the actual name of the company or whatever behind the movie) have been saying the same thing for the last month or so. It could be some elaborate hoax, which seems pretty pointless. I'm still waiting for pics of costumes and vehicles.

I like Mad Max, but how are you so sure this movie will be any good? It could very well be a mockery of the Mad Max trilogy.

Well most of the movies that have come out in the past year or so that I thought would be good turned out to be total garbage.

Nobody is sure about anything. They still might can the project before actual filming starts. Just like an asteroid might crash into the earth before the end of this month. Besides, the Mad Max trilogy already has a mockery and it had something to do with a certain Thunderdome.

The 2 great movies (Mad Max and Road Warrior) were owned by George Miller, the creator/director.
Thunderdome was owned by Warner Bros, who literally forced them to have a PG-13 rating to allow a "broader" audience (aka pussy kids), Tina Turner (major pop culture icon of the time), a new crappier composer, and Byron Kennedy (the other half of George Miller's Mad Max) died while scouting for a filming location.
For Fury Road, George Miller bought back the rights to Mad Max so he has total creative control and spent the last decade working on a script. At the very least it will be better than Thunderdome. But there's no way it will compare with the originals.

Monkey, he's right. Thunderdome was an utter piece of shit that deserved to be raped and left on the side-walk. I had no idea they threw off those bastards that made Thunderdome... I'm quite sure it's going to kick ass if it's by the head original people. (Though I am a bit worried about the actors...)

Hopefully it'll be less of this "sociability" shit like in Thunderdome and go back to go Ol' Max.

I think it is safe to say that the creator of something can make a sequel that is just as good as the first, good thing he bought those rights.

That's actually rather reassuring.

I just hope that Gibson gets little or no input on the project. ("STFU Mel, you're just another actor on this one!") Otherwise we're likely to see Max; painted blue; being stalked by aliens who are allergic to water; but who manage to crucify Max as he mumbles incoherently in a mish-mash of Latin, Aramaic and Strine; possibly w/o the benefit of subtitles... :?

I never saw Thunderdome, I just know it has Tina Turner in it and that is enough for me to not see it. So I could not say if it was even remotely good or not.

But if he spent a whole 10 years develpoing a script then maybe, just maybe, it will be good.

OK, how to describe Thunderdome... It's what Episode 1 did for Star Wars: Made it suck.

Waterworld sucked ass. The only thing I liked was the bad guy, he had an eyepatch and everything.

I thought the first Mad Max was a good movie for the amount of budget they had to use.
