Off-topic cry for help...

I got a serious problem with FOT: it doesn´t recognize my CDs anymore! I was having fun playing Awaken when being told to insert Disc 3. When I did that, it said "Incorrect disc, plaese insert disc 3" At first I thought this would be some Awaken-related weird stuff, but then I discovered it happens when I try to fire up the editors as well, it then says "Incorrect disc, please insert disc 2".

Running FOT under XP (Home) and the last major change was installing SP1, although I do not know, if it worked after that...

Hell, I´d REALLY hate to reinstall everything, maybe one of you science-boys has some advice on what I might try?

The problem may not be with the cd but with the drive. If you have access to another cd drive, try reading the disc on that. You may want to copy it if you can.

Um, no, when I tried to read it with the CDRW (instead of the DVD), it says something like "CD not found" if I remember right...

But I´ll check to be sure. Just in case, is there a way to change the CD path (from E to D, in this case)?

Alright, problem solved. SOMEHOW the CD path has obviously changed from D to E for some reason. Fixed it and everything´s alright now...
Strange.

Everyone excuse my senseless panic please.

Hmm, that does seem odd. Usually when it asks for the cd I can place the disc in either of my cd drives without problems.

Are you using some kind of partitioning utility btw?
I think something like it happened once with Partition Magic...

I had a problem like that on my old computer, i installed simcity 3000 and it froze so I pressed eject disc button on my drive, and pulled the cd out and just pulled the plug to my pc, restarted, and the drives, both of them, wouldnt read the discs. Well instead of getting a brand new drive for my computer, or trying to fix the prob, i got a new one, since my old one was about three years old. maybe you did something like what i did?

It's more likely that if SD has been installing other maps, someone (hopefully not me) included one of the config files, with their map/mod, which had the cd path changed.
