Planescape: Torment?
Planescape: Torment?
eh, i've only played fallout1/2/tactics...
i could never get into any other rpg, fallout was the first i ever played and all the others look, umm.. flitty? gay? pansy...ish?
but planescape looks good, because that guy on the box looks like marcus except blue and with long dreads
does it play like fallout, except without guns? if so then i'd play it

I'm pretty much the same as you Iohkus. I've never really gotton into any other RPGs, except Fallout.
I picked up PS:T a few months ago, and it was rather difficult to get into. It has some nice humour in it, but it's real-time combat blows.
The fact I didn't get a manual with it also blows, making it hard to figure out stuff.
Only played it about 3 times since I've gotton it, as it's just not very interesting (to me)

I must be the only person who played it and then went right for the uninstall feature. It's not a bad game, it's a terrible one. It's pretty much just a story book, I hate feeling like I'm going in a straight line to some inevitable doom. Then guess what, that's exactly what I was doing in the game! From the very start. Not sad at all to see it go the way of the dodo. Sorry. I like to have the option of exploring and doing as I please. (I.E. playing the game) ...
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

I`m playing it again now, since i never finished it. The combat is atrocious, but the story is fun as hell, the NPCs are cool, and it`s the only D&D world actually fascinating.
The dialogues are indeed too long at parts, but overall i like it, the weirdness factor is really high, and we feel compeled to know more on what the hell is going on.
If it wasn`t for the suck ass combat it would probably be one of my favorite games.

The story is good, very good. The gameplay is soso. It´s worth playing once for the story. It´s fantasy and quite linear but not like most other fantasy RPG´s where the only objective is to get EXP. to level up and beat the bosses. It´s the only RPG where you dont need to reload even if you die.
Carpe jugulum.

Wow, you think its that bad? I agree that combat isnt excatly great, but it doesnt suck either. But it isnt linear at all, theres plenty of places to explore and different ways to go, of course it doenst match Fallout, but the story in Fallout is crap compared to the PS:T story line. The characters and dialog in PS:T has such immense depth and story behind it man. In Fallout your just some guy who gets thrown outa your vault and then your on your own. But of course, thats the cool part about Fallout, the almost total freedom to do what you like, but it hamstrings the depth of story and character as well.Killzig wrote:I must be the only person who played it and then went right for the uninstall feature. The combat and system is atrocious. You can only play it once.
The story, however, is fantastic, as is that trademark wacky Planescape atmosphere. The game's well worth playing despite it's shortcomings, though the beginning in Sigil might seem a little tedious.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

The combat was pretty bad... I mean, it would be pretty cool if the magicians of my kru stayed back instead of running in front of the monster to cast that super duper lightning bolt. IE combat is teh suck.Nicolai wrote:hm.. i must be the only persona who actually liked PS:T's combat o_O
I loved the atmosphere and the story though, you should at least try it, and I liked the game quite a lot despite the combat... I guess you'll either love it or loathe it or something like that? Or not
