What a surprise

[Company -> Update]

Fallout3 was canned and BIS is finished with all people laid off:

Van Buren/Fallout3 has been "shelved," as the geniuses at IPLY have put it. Console only is the word of the day now. Even though Van Buren was half-way finished, the 'tards in charge have decided they want to do Exalted console and FOBOS 2. The simple fact they are making FOBOS2 even when FOBOS when hasn't shipped and is hated by the Fallout community says a lot about their intelligence. Not to mention Van Buren would be the only game they could possibly ship by X-mas next year.

Yes, Interplay decided to suspend Fallout3, lay off the staff, and make FOBOS2 instead.

More on this soon.

Not at all surprising. Doesn't get any more tragic, though.

I'm ecstatic as is. Ha ha. Die motherfuckers!
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Hahaha... oh my stars... now THAT'S some funny shit

It actually seems like they're TRYING to lose all of their loyal customers and sabotage their company... an elaborate inside-job, maybe? Computer game makers by day, suicidal ninja assassins by night?

It makes sense - just about as much sense as FOBOS2, anyway!

Once this news hits the market, things are really gonna go to shit. Anyone with the wits to bang two rocks together knows BIS was the only thing keeping a grim mockery of life in IPLY. Once the investors know they've killed the ONLY POSSIBLE SOURCE OF REVENUE FOR THE COMPANY, it'll all be over.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

How the HELL are they expecting to last the week? Christmas is over thataway, a week or two away, and they're laying off folks?

They really need to die. My birthday is January 2nd, so I think we should make the Annual SDF Celebration a seige on their webboards.

Nothing like a slow-moving localized apocalypse to really make you think about proper data backup procedures.

Do you think they'll still have boards on the 2nd of January?

I think Inertplay, while being stupid, still has momentum... They'll move their forums from a dedicated server to the coffee machine down the hall.

Needless to say, they will not be hearing many disparaging remarks from the Fallout Fans, unless we tour the building.

Puuk, one of the dudes who works (or worked) at Black Isle made a big goodbye post at the Interplay boards.

I wonder, if the Fallout license is bought by someone, do you think they'll employ the BIS guys? It's fucking half-way done! Why waste resources like that? Idiots, the lot of them.

Bah, stupid Iplay... I was actually looking forward to F3 (despite the fact that it wouldn't truely be with the other fallouts, but at least it wouldn't be FOBOS or FOT)
