I've just dumped Internet Explorer
I've just dumped Internet Explorer
Yeah, we've been seeing eachother for years - ever since I got my first dial-up account (a bloody long time ago) - but now, I'm kicking Internet Explorer's arse to the kerb. BEGONE BITCH!
I've fallen for Firebird - it's very seksee. So fast... so clean... so nice... so tab-tastic - it's now my one-and-only browser. There's no turning back now! This is love, baby.
One thing though - I'm sick to fucking death of the shitty MSN Messenger icon sitting in my tray. It's all Outlook Express' fault. And Outlook Express ain't all that special... I've been using it just as long as I've been using Internet Explorer, so I'm gonna go for the full make-over. Dear knowledgable ladies and gentlemen, if I may, I'd like to ask for some of your wise and valuable advice...
What is the best email program to use, and why? If it's as cool an upgrade as Firebird was to IE, I'll be super-appreciative! Cheers

I hope I'm not pointing out the obvious here, but you can disable MSN Messenger by Going to Tools/Options, then accessing the "General" tab. There you'll find an item to disable MSN messenger from starting up.Kreegle wrote:One thing though - I'm sick to fucking death of the shitty MSN Messenger icon sitting in my tray. Nope, I've already got that disabled.OnTheBounce wrote:I hope I'm not pointing out the obvious here, but you can disable MSN Messenger by Going to Tools/Options, then accessing the "General" tab. There you'll find an item to disable MSN messenger from starting up.
Stupid Microsoft :xMSN Messenger wrote:"There are other applications currently using features provided by MSN Messenger. You must close these other applications before you can exit MSN Messenger. These applications may include Outlook, Outlook Express, MSN, MSN Explorer, Internet Explorer, and Three Degrees."
Right you are then! I'll give it a look.Spazmo wrote:Well, it's a heckuva lot more finished than Outlook is, so go Thunderbird.

Hold on, I want a nice, hot cup of tea to sip on while I read your in-depth rant about MS.

But then I'd still have that MSN Messenger iconFranz_Schubert wrote:OMG dude use Outlook (not outlook express, just Outlook). It's the best mail program by far.
OK... ok-ok... here I go: DAMN YOU... MS... and your... uhh... STUPID TRAY ICONS!OnTheBounce wrote:Hold on, I want a nice, hot cup of tea to sip on while I read your in-depth rant about MS.
...which appear when I don't want them!
...you... you smell like poop.
...but you still make nice operating systems, so I'll forgive you. Win2k is good.
How was that? I'm too chuffed with my fancy new computer-stuff to get any nastier.
By the way - I just installed Thunderbird. It is wicked. Outlook Express is gone, and so is that shitty icon. Cheers for the suggestion guys!

Be that as it may, I was simply looking for entertainment. (For the record: I'm an IE and Outlook Express using fool and have been since I got my first net connection.)Franz_Schubert wrote:People, Microsoft makes quality products.
Well, I was hoping for some really venomous and bile-ridden rhetoric to liven up my evening, but if you're not in the mood I guess you're not in the mood.Kreegle wrote:How was that? I'm too chuffed with my fancy new computer-stuff to get any nastier.

I use Firebird at home, but I'm forced to use IE on campus because the fascist server admins have nothing better to do than routinely delete every web browser except IE, and every chat program except MSN Messenger. I hate those guys. I really fucking hate those guys.
I've found that converting my friends and family to Firebird is easy. It goes something like this: "Stop using Internet Explorer, it's shit. Download Firebird."Stainless wrote:I made the switch to Firebird a couple of months back. Unfortently the rest of the family is still a slave to IE. Havn't managed to convert them.....yet.

Otherwise you sure as well won't like my next suggestion - MSN Hotmail....
My ISP has their own internet based email program. It is kinda clunky but I use that because I can get to my email from anywhere.

I didn't have much trouble converting my mom to Firebird. I just took the shortcuts to Netscape (*shudder*) off her desktop and told her, "No more Netscape. You're using Firebird now."Stainless wrote:I made the switch to Firebird a couple of months back. Unfortently the rest of the family is still a slave to IE. Havn't managed to convert them.....yet.
Well it IS their network and not yours, right?Slave_Master wrote:I use Firebird at home, but I'm forced to use IE on campus because the fascist server admins have nothing better to do than routinely delete every web browser except IE, and every chat program except MSN Messenger. I use mozilla+firebird now, because for some reason my stupid IE just stopped working... no virueses/spyware/programs running that would stop it, but it died-- Good riddence!
The only downside to mozilla/firebird is that there are some plugin's that don't work with it, that sucks especially for me because I can't just jump back to IE if something doesn't work. Oh well.. Mozilla's cool

I was using Firebird but now I'm using Explorer again. While Mozilla may have cache, it's too slow and annoying for a shitty connection such as mine.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
