A Quickie

So I have two medium-sized buildings next to each other. One is two stories high and the other is one story high. I want to "connect" the top floors of the two buildings (i.e. the "rooves" of the two buildings ) via sloped tiles.

My problem is that I can't seem to find any sloped tiles that look man-made. Snow, dirt, sand, etc. is all I find. What would be really nice if there were sloped versions of the Junk City/Floors/Catwalk tiles. Anyone know of any tiles (or can make some) that would fit the bill?

Solution #2 would be to make the single-story building two stories tall but I'm sure that would screw up occulsion. But then again, what doesn't? :drunk:

Why don't you do that with stair tiles? In a way, you could say they are slopped as well.

True, true, but would look kinda wierd. Looks like that's what I'll have to do, though. Hmmm...

There's the road, ruined city concrete slopes. And under industrial there's some sloped vent tiles which are metal.

I recommend going with one of the things RFAS mentioned. Or you could have a floor tile, stair tile, floor tile, etc.. That might not look bad (but it would require your buildings to be far apart?). The only problem with stair type tiles is the characters will always try and cross in a certain spot.

Sweet, I didn't know of these. I'll have to take 'em for a spin when I get back from school...

Edit: Hrm, I can't seem to find the sloped vent tiles you speak of, Requiem. Couldja hit me with the exact path?

I tried using the sloped road tiles but they don't slope nearly steep enough. The buildings are three tiles apart (i.e. 18 WUs).

I'm probably going to use the Junk/Floor/Catwalk tiles to make a lil' bridge from the shorter building to the other then slap a ladder on the side of the taller building to connect the roof of it to the bridge.

Thanks anywho.

That'd be best. With such a short distance I doubt any sloped tiles being able to cover it.

Hey, INCREASE distance then! :hahano:

I would, but I'm going for the "close quarters combat" motif here.

How about dropping the slopped part and try a wooden bridge that end in a ladder and the major fightin is in the roof of the end building?

I'm making a BoS map too, btw. Good think the idea is different.(I'll take your BoS bullets, hehe!)

Cheers,

flamescreen.

That's pretty much what I did. Still, I would like to know where the sloped metal tiles Requiem spoke of are.

Actually, this is a brand-new map. You're thinking of Revenge3 which is sorta dead in the water at the moment.

Damn, I have so much to do I probably can't. will try to check it out though. My map is progressing wonderfully if I may say so though. and i hate corrupted tiles.

I'll try to post my undone work on water tilez these days in my group.

Heh, yea it was. I think FS is referring to the entity/sprite that I'm using for it.

At least, that's about all I can figure.

I didn't bother with it back then to remember, so I'm sorry. And yes, I'm talking about the sprite.

This is not about copyrights hopefully. This is a modding community. All one has to do for credit if you forget is asking. Wouldn't it be funny if someone sued for something I forgot mentioning? Lol!!!

Makes you think twice about including other people's work in your projects. I've heard americans sue over nothing. That true?

Only the lazy and stupid ones, and that's about 95% of us. I'm lazy, but not stupid. Well, OK I am, but not stupid in the same way that people who sue someone over thier dog pooping on his/her lawn are stupid.

Anyway, like I've said, the map'll be done when I get some comments on it. Not a second sooner.

I'd like to comment on your map bro but you'll have to post some screenshots...

Playing the map tends to yeild better feedback than looking at screenshots.
