Comedians
Comedians
It seems that today, not many comedians that reach high levels of popularity are actually that funny, or witty. Take for example, Adam Sandler, whose antics appeal to children and pre-teen kids in search of stellar comedy. Dennis Miller now hosts an abysmally idiotic pseudo-Talk-Show on CNBC, Ellen Degeneres... just remember the grammies, folks.
Howard Stern is funnier than most stand up comedians today. About the only funny Stand Up act I can think of is George Carlin, and I can't see his show anymore on account of cancelling my HBO.
Tell me, friends and enemies alike, which comedians out there today tickle your fancy or otherwise alert your comedic brains. Or something.

Endure. In enduring, grow strong.

Adam Sandler is supposed to be a standup comedian, too ?
I remember his name from some barely funny movies.
So, are you asking for standup or film comedians ? Anyway, I find Tim Allen amusing, the Tool Time man.
As for films, I like Christian Clavier and his style as an example, he is a french actor who starred in films like "The Visitors" .

Go watch The Comedian. It's a great movie, and you can learn a hell of a lot about the profession from it.
The best comedians are the classic stand-up ones - George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, and the like.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Seinfeld? Seinfeld sucks ass. What's the deal with blah blah blah? It's almost as if blah blah blah. Seriously, what... is... the... deal with blah blah blah?atoga wrote:The best comedians are the classic stand-up ones - George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, and the like.

Rev. Boby Levy
Patrice O'Neal (Thanks Slavemaster.)
Richard Pryor
Dave Chapelle
Charlie Murphy is apparently goddamn hilarious...who knew?

Tough Crowd hosted by Colin Quin is pretty good. Sure you get the stuttering Irish men but generally atleast one good comedian is on the show or they have classics like George Carlin or new uprising stars like Dave Chappelle. Its also a pretty good political debate show considering its done by comedians, better then anything on CNN atleast.

I don't think Lewis Black has ever put out a CD called "White Stripe" maybe you're thinking of "The White Album"?jerman999 wrote:Lewis Black is an excellent comedian. White Stripe is the funniest CD I've ever heard.
John Stewart and the guys over at the Daily Show are pretty good too.
George Bush lowered taxes so the Jews could kill Michael Moore.

Lewis Black's Back in Black on Daily Show beats all late night shows into the ground. His 5 minute bit they show every 3 weeks is the funniest thing on TV. For real, dawg.jerman999 wrote:Lewis Black is an excellent comedian. White Stripe is the funniest CD I've ever heard.

Steven Colbert on the Daily Show is the best. I love his quotes.
"It's French, bitch."
"Don't Buy This Book If You Don't Have Any Balls. Well do ya? Do you have the balls?"
Dave Letterman is by far the most boring comedian on TV. Leno is better, but his show isn't so great either.
