Hitman: Contracts
Hitman: Contracts
I am a big fan of the Hitman series of games, one the the best action games ever made. Recently ordered Hitman 2 online, and found Hitman: Contracts on the list.
What is this?
I can't access game sites from my school, so I was wondering if someone could tell me what Contracts is. It sounds like a spin-off, but I don't know...
Does it look good? Or is it like Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy?

Re: Hitman: Contracts
its not a spin off its a sequel to Silent Assassin. if you had beaten Silent Assassin you would know it leaves the end rather open for a sequel.Phias wrote:I am a big fan of the Hitman series of games, one the the best action games ever made. and its going to be awesome. it pretty much consists of 47 being shot and hallucinating about old missions. it will probably be more than that because i doubt they would lay down the whole story like that.

I didn't finish Hitman 2 yet, as I'm still on the Russian level(in a subway of some kind).
I'm glad that at least one of the best series` in recent memory hasn't degraded into what Fallout has lately. Hopefully it'll turn out great.
Is it just me, or does it seem like Hitman 2 had significantly higher production values than Hitman 1?

better designs. better physics. shit the colombian missions in hitman are impossible to beat. plus i like some of the Silent Assassin missions better.Phias wrote:I didn't finish Hitman 2 yet, as I'm still on the Russian level(in a subway of some kind).

The physics were a bit "light" in Hitman 2. It was as if people didn't weigh more than 90 lbs at times. It does seem a better game, with better saving ability. The first level was a good way to start the game off, but I disagree with a mandatory tutorial.
(trick: In the tutorial level, the end badguy is in one of the cells. When you get piano wire, you can choke him _through the door_ and end the game right there. Haven't tried it yet, so I don't know if it works.)

no i mean impossible overall. the killing the druglord mission was impossible in every sense of the word.Kashluk wrote:Impossible to beat *in the silent way*, you mean.
Hitman 1/2 is the easiest game in the world if you just want to bang-bang through all the levels like Jason X on acid. It's the stealth that counts and that Columbian map didn't leave any room for it at all.
in silent assassin i cant even seem to get silent assassin ratings right now. i nailed both the guys in the park mission with one sniper shot through both of their heads. i only killed them and the soldier guarding the radio tower and i still didnt get silent assassin...
you cant shoot your way through them because you cant heal. and when one guard knows you shot them, they all know and they will own you.

Didn't find the Columbian mission so hard, when I just grabbed the biggest gun I could find and mowed my way through those waves of stoned guards.
I played Hitman 2 through twice just for the heck of it, first by killing everyone I came across and second time getting the Silent Assasin- rating from every level. The first one was incredibly easy, only the map where you're restricted from killing the UN-troops you get in some trouble, but otherwise it was a piece of cake. Second one caused me gray hairs and I failed in two levels (can't remember which ones though), so I never really reached the "all SA-rating" goal.
The dealio in the Park Misison is

that you have to use the cloroform in order to keep the killing count down. PLUS - I've found it much easier to just walk in the park and put a bullet in both of their heads with the silenced .22 instead of climbing all the way to the radio tower and dangering yourself being spotted by the nearby guards.

Depends on which mission you're talking about. The mission with the trucks is *HELL*, because those trucks might accidently *KILL* their own people (those ninjaguys, you know) *AND* it adds to *YOUR* killing counter... Which is really screwed up. So you just grab a ninja uniform and sneak all the way through to those gates and hope you won't be spotted / ninjas won't get run over by those stupid truckers. Never managed to get SA from this one IIRC.
The next one is pretty easy, only sneaking around and avoiding guards when possible.
The one where you have to assasinate Yamamotohirakirisapusimi whatever, you just need to get all the way up to the top floor only *FREIGHTEN* the yakuza boss a bit so you won't hurt / kill him outright (this mission doesn't credit you with an SA-rating if you shoot even once, I recall). This can be done by taking your gun out or something, I don't really remember the details. Anyhow, then just climb out the window and when he tries to leave with the helicopter, detonate the TNT you attached to his helicopter earlier, climb down the roof and leave the area. Mission over, SA rating earned.

i just killed everyone in those missions. if you cant shoot the guy the SA rating aint worth earning.Phias wrote:Tell me how you did the Japanese missions and succeeded in getting a damned Silent Assasin rating. From the review I read, Japan's levels are extremely tough, it said something around "80" enemies patrol the areas.
cloroform is for fairies just for the record.
you just gotta use skill to not be seen by the guards. its not hard.
you want some fun try putting the difficulty on max. there are like 60 million guards for every level.

Cloroform is for the *SILENT ASSASINS*. What was the game about again? Oh, now I remember! SILENT ASSASINS, dude.
Anyways, point being, if you want to be the best of the best you don't go killing people randomly. Just take out your target without causing any more bloodshed, appear and disappear like a ghost and finish your objective as quickly as possible.

walking around trying to be l33t in the jap mission will get your ass killed.
dude if i was an assassin id just walk up and shoot the guard in the head like in the game. i wouldnt waste my time trying to cloroform him and allowing him to raise the alarm.
i think i should have got SA rating on the park mission because i shot both the targets in the head with one bullet.

I just beat Hitman 2 yesterday, so I'm definately looking forward to this. The Hitman series is one of the few action game series which I respect.
I don't really care much about plot, but what kind of wacky features are going to be implemented in Contracts?

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Been there done that. But I guess the mission gives you penalties for using a non-silenced weapon (which almost every time raises an alarm, a "quite" one or an obvious one) plus killing a guard, which was an unnecessary kill.
Therefore, try the .22 method. Cloroform a random Rushkie, take his uniform, calmly walk in the park and try to get close but *not* too close, because they'll realize you're not a guard and will raise an alert. Just wait till they stand still and pop twice with the .22 (I prefer this weapon because it's the most silent one there is), walk out and you're done. Even if you only drug the Rushkie with a small dosage you'll be out of there way before he wakes up. Alternative method is, of course, to attach bombs to their cars and wait for them to leave... It might blow up some close-by Russian Guards though, so it might not earn you the SA-title.

you can get the SA rank by bombs. ive done it. i never use cloroform and i can still get the SA rank. maybe i should just attempt to fibrewire the guy guarding the tower.Kashluk wrote:Been there done that. I guess I'm such a commie-hippie-pussy that I don't want to harm anyone else I'm supposed to
Not even the tech geeks in the Malaysian twin-towers mission. I prefer cloroforming.
And it's not actually "cheap", considering the effects last for quite a short time compared to fibrewiring, which effects last... Eh, quite a bit longer, don't you think?

No. The plot is boring and predictable. The locations, atmosphere, and features are what make the game.Mandalorian wrote:the plot is what makes hitman, hitman.
