Geek or Nerd?
Which are you? Actually, people have been differentiating between the two catagories lately, and I'd like to know exactly what the difference is. I know I'm either one or the other.

Geeks are just fairly normal people who are obsessed with something. Nerds, on the other hand, are similar, though they tend to be more obsessed, to the point where the rest of their life gets neglected.
In fact, pretty much everybody nowadays is a geek. People who aren't geeks in one way or another tend to be dull and boring.
I'm all geek and part hammer, baby.
Edit: I got the geek vs. nerd descriptions from reading Microserfs and the newspaper, so they're probably pretty accurate.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

I suppose I qualify as a geek, nerds always seemed confined to the realm of computers, while geeks are free to branch out into roleplaying, comic books, and wearing sweaters. Humongous was an excellent person, I wonder if some of his underlying rage combined with calm reasoning is a result of a geeky childhood? Though I’ve never seen a geek administer a sleeper hold like that..
dictionary.com
geek:
1. a. A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
b. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
2. A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.
I'll say no, just becase of number two, though hilarious, doesn't seem like something I would enjoy.
Nerd:
1. A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
I'll go with that.
