EA's "Godfather" game
EA's "Godfather" game
From the New York Post
March 12, 2004 -- Bada-bing, bada-beep. Electronic Arts wants to make gamers an offer they can't refuse.
An executive from the video-game company told an investor conference that EA was working on a title based on "The Godfather." The game would be one of the company's first "mature"-rated distractions, and a direct response to the popularity of the "Grand Theft Auto" series.
A spokeswoman for EA would say only that it was "in the early stages of development of a game about a crime syndicate."
No release date has been announced.
The other question is whether video game fans, many of whom weren't even born when Francis Ford Coppola's epic was released, will be pulled right back in. "It's still very popular," said Schelley Olhava, an analyst with IDC. "People quote 'The Godfather' all the time."
EA syphoning and capitalizing on an already-established genre? NO WAY DUDE! [sarcasm]

I don't get it. Wouldn't the Godfather game just be a more mature Mafia with some elements of expanding your empire involved?
Unless, of course, there's all kinds of family ties-type stuff. But I can't see that selling.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

I think it will probably sell with EA even if it sucks, but if its good then the sales will probably be 2 times that.

EA has really lost any credit as a respectable game designer or publisher. They seek to dumb down the industry, or add new, crappy ideas.
They really just market their merchandise to a child audience, meaning that their version of "The Godfather" will doubtfully be a true representation of the film. But is it ever?
I still can't believe how much money they made with their amazingly crappy Harry Potter games. Utter crap.

Endure. In enduring, grow strong.
